Good grief - after going ballistic recently with his "bullshit" tirade, climate-change fear-monger Al 'GreenFear TM' Gore continues to spew more of his demented greenshevism TM.
I guess it never occurred to Al Gore that he's the 'denier', that what he's propagating isn't real?!
Gore is the one in denial; refusing to comprehend that his AGW climatalarmism TM has been revealed for the grand charade which it was.
Good gaia: by Gore's own bullshit-laden-'logic', then not only should Gore himself be 'shunned like a racist', but so should the likes of David Suzuki, Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC, Liberals MPP Jim Bradley, Dalton McGuinty, Stephane Dion, and any other AGW-hysteria-pushing-kyodiotTM... they can all be compared to, treated as, and ridiculed as AlGorical racist/deniers!
This is, after all, the word from the Goracle of GreenFear himself.

Jim Bradley's GreenFear influences remain a dark Liberal state-secret
More bad news for GreenFear TM spreader Liberal MPP Jim Bradley, and his local Niagara gang of similar-minded climate-fear-mongering acolytes, such as mayors Brian McMullan, Jim Diodati, and many other climate-change/global-warming climatalarmists: the 'science is being settled', as the climate-change greenshevists once claimed - but not in the way which the greenshits like Jim Bradley wanted it to!!! As Lawrence Solomon wrote (National Post, Aug.27, 2011):
"New, convincing evidence indicates global warming is caused by cosmic rays and the sun — not humans
The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.
The research, published with little fanfare this week in the prestigious journal Nature, comes from über-prestigious CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research involving 60 countries and 8,000 scientists at more than 600 universities and national laboratories. CERN is the organization that invented the World Wide Web, that built the multi-billion dollar Large Hadron Collider, and that has now built a pristinely clean stainless steel chamber that precisely recreated the Earth’s atmosphere.
In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.
The hypothesis that cosmic rays and the sun hold the key to the global warming debate has been Enemy No. 1 to the global warming establishment ever since it was first proposed by two scientists from the Danish Space Research Institute, at a 1996 scientific conference in the U.K. Within one day, the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Bert Bolin, denounced the theory, saying, “I find the move from this pair scientifically extremely naive and irresponsible.” He then set about discrediting the theory, any journalist that gave the theory cre dence, and most of all the Danes presenting the theory — they soon found themselves vilified, marginalized and starved of funding, despite their impeccable scientific credentials.
The mobilization to rally the press against the Danes worked brilliantly, with one notable exception. Nigel Calder, a former editor of The New Scientist who attended that 1996 conference, would not be cowed. Himself a physicist, Mr. Calder became convinced of the merits of the argument and a year later, following a lecture he gave at a CERN conference, so too did Jasper Kirkby, a CERN scientist in attendance. Mr. Kirkby then convinced the CERN bureaucracy of the theory’s importance and developed a plan to create a cloud chamber — he called it CLOUD, for “Cosmics Leaving OUtdoor Droplets.”
But Mr. Kirkby made the same tactical error that the Danes had — not realizing how politicized the global warming issue was, he candidly shared his views with the scientific community.
“The theory will probably be able to account for somewhere between a half and the whole of the increase in the Earth’s temperature that we have seen in the last century,” Mr. Kirkby told the scientific press in 1998, explaining that global warming may be part of a natural cycle in the Earth’s temperature.
The global warming establishment sprang into action, pressured the Western governments that control CERN, and almost immediately succeeded in suspending CLOUD. It took Mr. Kirkby almost a decade of negotiation with his superiors, and who knows how many compromises and unspoken commitments, to convince the CERN bureaucracy to allow the project to proceed. And years more to create the cloud chamber and convincingly validate the Danes’ groundbreaking theory.
Yet this spectacular success will be largely unrecognized by the general public for years — this column will be the first that most readers have heard of it — because CERN remains too afraid of offending its government masters to admit its success. Weeks ago, CERN formerly decided to muzzle Mr. Kirby and other members of his team to avoid “the highly political arena of the climate change debate,” telling them “to present the results clearly but not interpret them” and to downplay the results by “mak[ing] clear that cosmic radiation is only one of many parameters.” The CERN study and press release is written in bureaucratese and the version of Mr. Kirkby’s study that appears in the print edition of Nature censored the most eye-popping graph — only those who know where to look in an online supplement will see the striking potency of cosmic rays in creating the conditions for seeding clouds.
CERN, and the Danes, have in all likelihood found the path to the Holy Grail of climate science. But the religion of climate science won’t yet permit a celebration of the find."
*
We all know that Jim Bradley and McGuinty's Liberals fear-mongered about global warming and kyoto for years, and then used their climate-lies to implement their insane green bolshevik energy policies when they were in government.
Jim Bradley, the Liberal loud-mouth climate-change-fraud artist (and now, frighteningly, McGuinty's safety minister!...WTF?!) still has not revealed the specific scientific source for his kyoto/global warming/climate-change agitation a decade ago.
C'mon, there, Jimmy: why don't you publicly reveal which specific scientists, which specific evidence, you and your Liberals used to help plow Ontario into a 'have-not' province?? Why is this a secret, Jim; why are you keeping your grandiose 'climate-science' in the dark?
Jim Bradley's kyoto-agitation-influences are apparently a dark, official state-secret of the McGuinty Liberal government.
Of course, the Liberal arse-lickers at Niagara This Week and the St.Catharines Standard have never asked or reported on Jim Bradley's years of Liberal climate-change lies. Bradley's Liberal policy implementations (based on unsubstantiated Liberal climate fraud and deception) were simply accepted and parroted by the local BradleyBallLickerPressCorp as absolute gospel!
And to this day (with an election looming in six weeks!) - no one has yet bothered to examine Bradley's climate-change snowjob!!
Good gaia - let's write about anything else but Jim Bradley's bag of Liberal climate crap!

The Suzuki and Gore GreenFear carnival act
Further to my Aug.13 post:
Tom Harris, executive director of the International Climate Science Coalition, wrote:
"Re: "Suzuki insults, but won't debate," David R. Legates, Aug. 13.
In the article in which Dr. David Suzuki attacked Dr. Willie Soon, Dr. Suzuki labelled me an "industry shill." A quick look at the website of the International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC), the group I lead, reveals that this is clearly wrong but, sadly, Dr. Suzuki's piece was published by many newspapers across Canada.
I have been sending letters to the editor of all of these publications to explain the Suzuki mistake and most editors have published my correction. They obviously see the double standard when someone from a group that receives substantial funding from industry (namely, the David Suzuki Foundation) calls another person a "shill" for industry when that other person and the group they lead are not funded by industry at all.
The injustice done to me by Dr. Suzuki is far less severe that that done to Dr. Soon, of course. Consequently, I am very pleased to see Prof. David Legates has now explained that Dr. Suzuki's wild attack on Dr. Soon was also based on incorrect and distorted information."

If it's not enough to hear Suzuki's now-desperate GreenFear spreading in Canada, let's look at the inconvenient truth about Al Gore's similar climate-change meltdown in the States, as noted by Rex Murphy (National Post, Aug.20, 2011):
"For those who have a wish to hear the grating sound of a man distempered and frustrated that the cause for which he has given at least a decade of his time, the “greatest moral challenge of our time,” is lost, I recommend listening to Al Gore as he was captured during an address at an Aspen global warming conference two weeks ago. It is a revelation.
Mr. Gore is not a happy Jeremiah. You hear him on the tape near rage, repeatedly shouting “bulls–t” over the arguments of his critics. He raves about conspiracy — a rebirth of the tactics of the dreaded tobacco industry of a few decades back. He blames “media manipulation” for the refusal of people to take up his gloomy summons. He hisses at “volcanoes and sunspots” as having much or anything to do with climate. “Bulls–!” he cries over and over — perhaps it’s the methane content that has him mesmerized with the word. Listen to this aria: “They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bulls–t! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bulls–t! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bulls–t!”
Can a person win the Nobel Peace prize twice? I surely hope so, for this is the E=mc² moment of our green time.
It is not a pretty display. The question the sorry little rant calls up is whether, in its way, this temper fit was a signal that the great global warming crusade, that has had such a sweet run for the last decade or more, is finally over. Has it run, so to speak, out of gas?
The signs are everywhere that it has. Here in Canada, for example, how far are we from those days when Stéphane Dion was the freshly-minted leader of the Liberal party, having ascended to that dubious altitude largely on the pledge that he was going to build a “green” Canada. It was telling that within the Liberal party at that time featly (sic, 'fealty') to a drastic and nebulous green agenda was enough to grab the leadership prize away from the perceived stronger candidates, Bob Rae and Michael Ignatieff. As so often happens, however, much as they are embraced by celebrities and touted by inside “experts,” when so-called green politics are placed before the people those politics and the people who espouse them are forcefully rejected.
Some five or so years later, not a little of Stephen Harper’s success in gaining a majority government came from refusing to engage, in any serious and convincing manner, with the politics of the planet-savers. Political correctness dictates some tepid genuflection towards the obsession with a warming planet, but Harper — and people know this — can be counted on not to jump on the carbon-counting express. He can be counted on to not bend in the face of the manufactured fury presented by professional activists and environmentalists, either to slow or stop the oil sands or introduce some ludicrous and wasteful “tax” on carbon dioxide. And while it may be a footnote to the national trend, Rob Ford’s election as mayor of Toronto can also be read, in part, as a rebuke to the previous mayor’s incessant tinkering with “environmental” measures — from plastic bag surcharges to bike lanes — at the expense of more basic municipal functions.
These are merely the local Canadian signals. But one can skip the globe and find almost everywhere that governments, staring at the reality of recession and financial anxiety, have given up on their vague projections of green economics. Where is President Obama, who promised that on his accession “the rise of the oceans will start to slow and the planet begin to heal?” — surely the most fatuous declaration in the history of politics. Well, he appears to be giving speeches every second day, but none of them feature the retreating oceans or our healed planet.
In fact he’s been tooling around in a $2-million bus oblivious of the carbon costs, and there simply hasn’t been any signal that his White House is giving the great Gore crusade anything but the barest of rhetorical support. If there were any political value to ardent greensmanship, surely a President who is floundering on the economy and sinking in the polls would have grabbed that raft with a passion.
But there isn’t anymore. Perhaps the recession has tamed the imaginations of most people and their governments. In tight economic times people are naturally unwilling to engage in the comic-book fantasies of the wilder environmentalists. Perhaps Climategate gave a too-souring glimpse into the mixture of science and advocacy that has, to some extent, corrupted both. Perhaps, finally, the unctuousness, sanctimony and sputtering righteousness of the high-profile environmentalists signal to most observers that they aren’t really as certain of all this “science” as they pretend to be. Either way this long green game has lost its fundamental energies. The celebrities will find another wristband; the politicians will find a new vague distraction.
For that, Mr. Gore himself has a lot of blame to carry. His own “sputtering righteousness” and his adolescent barks of “bulls–t” to his critics may be a reverse of the Obama declaration. Gore’s meltdown might just be the moment when the people of the planet saw the carney show for what it was."

The Paducah Sun weighed in about Al Gore's unhinged tantrum back on Aug.14, 2011:
"Al Gore has good reason to be so angry. But it’s not the reason you might think.
At the Aspen Institute last week, the former vice president, behaving like anything but, unleashed an obscenity laced tirade against those who aren’t buying what he’s selling: global warming. The number of scientists moving into the skeptic ranks regarding manmade climate change is growing.
“They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bull****! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bull****! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bull****!”
Sounds like someone’s losing an argument.
He complained, “There’s no longer a shared reality on an issue like climate, even though the very existence of our civilization is threatened.”
Gore doesn’t live like the very existence of our civilization is threatened. With his many mansions, his fleet of vehicles and his travels aboard private jets, he leaves the carbon footprint of a small city. Yet he claims to live a “carbon-neutral” lifestyle because he pays poor people in Third World countries to plant trees. That’s a luxury reserved for the wealthy, like Gore, with guilty consciences to pacify over their conspicuous consumption.
He’s not alone. Every global climate summit has been an orgy of excess that exposed the hypocrisy of all those hoping to cash in on global warming panic.
Civilization is not threatened, but Gore’s fortune may be. He is heavily invested in green technology and carbon trading. But the green market is just not performing. So he’s beginning to sound deranged.
How else to explain this statement from his rant: “It’s no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the god**** word ‘climate.’”
Seriously?
Gore cited different arguments of the skeptics but gave the same response to all three, a one-word profanity for “baloney.” If the poison is the lack of science on the other side, then the antidote should be real science, right? Instead, he resorts to the very tactic he (falsely) accuses the other side of engaging in: unsupported assertions.
Gore’s real problem is real science. Between embarrassing blunders and scientific scandals among the leading climatologists, the global warming movement is evaporating, and with it Gore’s dreams of untold wealth."

Give Liberal Jim Bradley the boot
Here's a letter about truck speed-limiters which you won't find in the Jim Bradley-loving St.Catharines Standard, by Ronald Gunson in yesterday's Brantford Expositor:
"When Jim Bradley was Ontario's Minister of Transportation the Ontario Government passed the Speed Limiter Law requiring commercial vehicles to use electronic speed limiters to limit the maximum speed the vehicle can travel to 105km/hr. I expressed my concerns about the law in a letter to Mr. Bradley, explaining to him that I operated in jurisdictions where the speed limit was greater than 105 km/hr. On some U.S. Interstate highways the speed limit is 75 mph or 120 km/hr and it is almost impossible to operate safely in heavy traffic when your vehicle is governed 15 km/hr below the posted speed limit. I suggested to Mr. Bradley that if there is a problem with speeding trucks that Ontario adopt a policy like the State of Michigan with strict enforcement of the speed limit toward trucks. In Mr. Bradley's reply he stated "speeding trucks are a problem in Ontario. A 2005 traffic survey showed that 30% to 60% of large trucks were exceeding 105 km/hr on our 400 series highways." In a conversation with an individual in Mr. Bradley's office again I suggested strict enforcement of the speed limit toward trucks, if speeding trucks are such a problem. I was informed by the individual that this was not possible because there were not enough police available to do this. Think about it, there area not enough people available to enforce the law that already exists so what does the Ontario government do but pass another law. Now when you see a truck travelling over 105 km/hr on the 401 they are breaking two laws that are not being enforced.
In Mr. Bradley's letter he stated "regarding Ontario based trucks operating Out-of-Province, these drivers may de-activate the speed limiter when they leave the province and re-activate it upon re-entry, your vehicle's manufacturer or truck service centre should be able to advise you of the different types of available speed limiter options, including those that can be de-activated". An information pamphlet published by the Ontario Government explaining the speed limiter law stated Ontario's proposal is for a speed limiter that can be shut off when leaving the province to allow flexibility for carriers travelling to jurisdictions where the speed limit is higher. I talked to the service managers in most of the large truck dealerships in Metro Toronto and was told by all of them that they had no device available that would de-activate the speed limiter. Obviously Mr. Bradley and his ministry did no do the research on the availability of such a device before they passed the law.
Now Mr. Bradley is Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and his ministry made a decision to close two local jails in Owen Sound and Walkerton. As a result of this decision prisoners will have to be transported to and from court to a facility 2.5 hrs away.In Mr. Bradley's letter to me explaining why the speed limiter law was passed he stated it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 280,000 tonnes each year. What about the the greenhouse gas emissions from the vehicles transporting prisoners to and from court. Another example of a decision made without doing all the proper research.
If Mr. Bradley is an example of the quality of people Dalton McGuinty has to put in charge of his different ministries I think it is time in the upcoming election to give McGuinty and his people the boot."

It's so typical of GreenFear-spreading Kyodiots such as Jim Bradley and his lying Liberals to use climate-fear in a deceptive ploy to rationalize their fascist laws.
Jim Bradley, McGuinty's supposed "G20 Safety Minister", hasn't even bothered to say one word about the safety of HIS OWN MURDEROUS LIBERAL-CONTROLLED HEALTH MONOPOLY, which killed some 32 C. difficile infected patients in Bradley's own backyard.

Deb Matthews' snitch line fails to report her own Liberals' complicity in the monopolist mass-murder of 31 Niagara C.difficile victims
Tom Blackwell wrote in "Ontario's cure for medicare: snitching" (National Post, Aug.17, 2011):
"As provincial governments across the country grapple with the thorny issue of for-profit medicine, Ontario has taken the unprecedented step of setting up a toll-free snitch line for people to report cases of illegal private health care — and says it has triggered 35 investigations in barely a month.
The service was prompted by evidence that doctors and clinics are routinely flouting medicare rules with sometimes creative methods of generating extra income, Deb Matthews, the province’s Health Minister, said Tuesday.
The government has ordered 4,500 patients to be reimbursed out-of-pocket fees they had been levied by colonoscopy clinics in the last few years, while Ms. Matthews said she has heard of a surgeon charging $100 for a post-operative glass of orange juice.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that people are trying to get around (the law)…. I think it’s really important that we all protect our universal health-care system,” the Health Minister said in an interview. “It’s just important that we are ever-vigilant.”
Critics, however, call the initiative a politically motivated waste of money that could be better spent on improving actual medical services. In the lead-up to this fall’s provincial election, the Liberal government seems anxious to portray itself as a steadfast defender of public health care.
“How is this going to improve patient care for anybody?” Brett Skinner, president and health-care analyst at the conservative Fraser Institute think-tank, asked about the snitch line. “It’s not helping patients get better access. In fact, it’s designed to prevent patients from getting better access.”
The Canada Health Act generally forbids health-care providers from charging patients directly for services that are covered under medicare. Various private health services have cropped up in Quebec, B.C. and Alberta in recent years, however, with little interference by the federal government.
The Ontario Liberals, on the other hand, have presented themselves as strenuous foes of private health care.
Since the “extra-billing and queue-jumping report line” and email address were set up in June, the province has received 130 calls and 60 emails from patients who believe they were wrongly forced to pay for health care, Ms. Matthews said. Those have in turn led to 35 investigations, some dealing with cataract surgery clinics where patients were allegedly required to pay for tests or lenses as a condition for receiving the operation, the minister said.
She conceded that unlawful private health is not “rampant” in Ontario but said there are signs that it is occurring regularly. Since 2006, for instance, the Health Ministry has investigated 16 clinics offering colonoscopies — diagnostic procedures that check for symptoms of colorectal cancer — and found that four were charging illegal “block fees” directly to patients, in addition to the payments they received from medicare.
Those reviews resulted in 4,500 people having fees totalling $226,000 — or about $50 each — reimbursed by the clinics, said Ms. Matthews.
An aide to the minister said officials were unable to separate out the cost of the hot line, which is being funded out of the ministry budget.
One private clinic that offers colonoscopies to its clients — and says it follows all the appropriate rules — stressed that bolstering the public system is important, but questioned how seriously that system is being threatened.
“It’s hard to tell whether going to this length is worth it as the government has not indicated the extent of the problem,” said Bronwen Evans, a spokeswoman for Toronto-based Medcan. “We would hate to see precious health dollars and ministry staff time diverted away from other things, like reducing wait times.”
An official with the group representing registered nurses applauded the hot-line initiative, however, saying the incursions by private medicine are significant, and could be leading to a system where those who can afford to pay more will get better service. That in turn pushes up the total cost of health care, and draws doctors away from the public system, said Rhonda Seidman-Carlson, president-elect of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
“That is a slippery slope,” she said “You start having a for-profit system.”

Scaaarrrey stuff, eh: "for profit"!!! Ooooohhhh!!!
That's the same tired, failed old socialist-slippery slope-style rhetoric which Doris Grinspun and Jim Bradley once spewed. Btw: What's Deb Matthews done about Ontario's never-ending health-card-fraud problem?!
And where's the Liberal snitch line to report Dalton and Bradley for the negligent monopolist murder of 31 C.difficile patients, who were unwittingly trapped and sacrificed to Tommy Douglas in Niagara's McGuinty-controlled hospital death-camps??
Maybe Deb Matthews can turn herself and Smitherman in, as well.
FLICKING LIBERAL monopolist killers. Who will hold McGuinty's negligent Liberal political health-care-criminals to account?
The Ontario ombudsman's investigation of the NHS can't start soon enough; but, there should also be a concurrent, separate criminal investigation into how Dalton McGuinty's ideologically-infected single-payer-health-monopoly fascism (...of which Matthews' snitch line is another prime example) led to Niagara's summer of C.diff death.
The criminal investigation ought to start with Liberal health minister George Smitherman's monopolist activities.

A Provincial Supervisor is finally being called for Niagara's killer Liberal-controlled health-monopoly
Amazing: with less than two months to go before a provincial election - and after some 31 C.difficile-infected patients were killed in her Liberal-controlled health-monopoly - McGuinty's health minister Deb Matthews has finally decided to appoint a hospital Supervisor at the NHS!
It was about time - although her reasoning is still strangely suspect: Matthews bizarrely insists this is not being done because of the C.diff outbreak!! Whaaat?!! Come on!!
... [note the CBC's disingenuously-chosen headline on their report: "Niagara hospital system faces government control" - as if somehow, the NHS hadn't already been a ward of the Liberal's state-run-health-monopoly; as if the NHS wasn't aleady under "government control"!!
WTF?!?
This duplicitous CBC headline suggests that somehow, the NHS had been independent all along [haha!!] and therefore must have been making decisions all on its own, without any direction and control from McGuinty's Liberals!!
What classic spin, right up Kim Craitor's alley: blame the NHS, but not the Liberals which control the NHS!! It's perfect!! Now the Liberals, dressed as white knights, can suddenly take over the NHS to save it - from Liberal government control!!
The whole thing is absolutely perfect in its pure guile.
Notice also how the CBC studiously avoids mentioning that the NHS's "restructuring plan" (HIP) was forced upon it by Liberal George Smitherman!!
Note also how the CBC mysteriously fails to mention the Smitherman-created Niagara LHINs' role - as overseer of the NHS - in both demanding and approving the HIP!!] ...
After this as-yet-unknown Supervisor is appointed to the NHS, then next - hopefully, after McGuinty's Liberal monopolists are defeated in October - Ontario's Ombudsman will have full, unfettered, independent access to thoroughly investigate the Mess at the NHS (...an investigation which McGuinty's secretive Liberals have been desperately trying to avoid for years...); and after that, the police should be called to criminally investigate whether these C.difficile deaths in Niagara were actually a mass-murder by McGuinty's negligent monopolists.
Matthews is trying, albeit too-little/too-late, to backpedal as hard as she can, but she cannot hide the negligent horror which Dalton McGuinty's fascistic Liberal monopolists, starting with health-care cutter George Smitherman, have created in Niagara.
We now see that McGuinty's bait-and-switch Liberals peddled lies when [in order to hide from a possible public-inquiry during their last killer C.difficile outbreak in 2008] they claimed that they had learned everything there was to know about C. diff, and that Ontario's state-monopoly-run hospitals would be safe in the future; single-payer monopoly-enforcer Dalton McGuinty himself made these fraudulent assurances - see here.
Now we can see that these were utter, negligent, criminal lies.
McGuinty's monopoly-enforcing lying Liberals should face criminal charges over their complicity in Niagara's summer of death.

St.Catharines Standard still hasn't scrutinized Liberal Jim Bradley's GreenFear-mongering
Further to here...
Funny that still - after almost a decade - I don't recall any reporter from the St.Catharines Standard ever bothering to examine Liberal MPP Jim Bradley's years of climate-change GreenFear mongering !
David R. Legates (in Suzuki insults but won't debate, National Post, Aug.13, 2011, below) wrote a good column on a subject which the St.Catharines Standard had years to get around to examining, but... ahhh... umm... welllll... just couldn't be bothered to!! The Standard would have had to examine what their secretive buddy Jim Bradley's specific scientific basis was to agitate for Kyoto in 2003 - whoops: can't have that!!
Jim Bradley's specific scientific influences are still a top-level state secret!!
Gosh: we all obviously know what "climate change" is (...right??!...) - and we know that Ole Jimmy's against it!!!
That's all Jimmy needs us to know!!!!!
"As the climate scare fizzles, Canada’s celebrity environmentalist resorts to ad hominem attacks
David Suzuki has never met, debated or even spoken with my colleague, scientist Willie Soon. But as more people dismiss Mr. Suzuki’s scare stories about global warming cataclysms, the more he has resorted to personal attacks against Mr. Soon and others who disagree with him.
Mr. Soon’s brilliant research into the sun’s role in climate change has helped make millions aware that carbon dioxide’s influence is far less than Mr. Suzuki wants them to think. In a recent column picked up by media outlets around North America, including Huffington Post, Mr. Suzuki attacked Mr. Soon, my fellow scientist, mostly by recycling a Greenpeace “investigation” that is itself nothing more than a rehash of tiresome (and libelous) misstatements, red herrings and outright lies. It’s time to set the record straight.
First, there’s the alleged corporate cash misrepresentation. Mr. Suzuki claims Mr. Soon received “more than $1 million over the past decade” from U.S energy companies – and implies that Mr. Soon lied to a U.S. Senate committee about the funding. In fact, the research grants were received in the years following the Senate hearing. Moreover, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics took nearly half of the money (for “administration”), and what was left covered Mr. Soon’s salary, research, and other expenses including even toner for his printer.
Since Mr. Suzuki raised the subject of corporate cash, by comparison the Suzuki Foundation spends some $7 million every year on its “educational” and pressure campaigns – many of them in conjunction with various PR agencies, renewable energy companies, other foundations and environmental activist groups. Many stand to profit handsomely from Mr. Suzuki’s causes, especially “catastrophic climate change” and campaigns to replace “harmful” fossil fuels with subsidized, land-intensive, low-energy-output wind and solar facilities. Mr. Suzuki has appeared in advertisements for alternative energy sources in Ontario.
Mr. Suzuki is criticizing Mr. Soon and the Harvard-Smithsonian Institute for having done funded research– while alarmist climate catastrophe researchers share some $6 billion annually in U.S, and Canadian taxpayer money, and millions more in corporate funds, to link every natural phenomenon to global warming and promote renewable “alternatives” to fossil fuels.
If it is wrong to receive grants from organizations that have taken “advocacy” positions, then virtually every scientist with whom Mr. Suzuki has associated would be guilty. In his column Mr. Suzuki recognizes this point. “Some rightly point out that we should look at the science and now at who is paying for the research.” If he believes that the science, and not who is paying for research, is most important, then why does he continue to attack Willie Soon and others on the basis of their funding?
Second, Mr. Suzuki repeats an absurd Greenpeace claim that Mr. Soon tried to “undermine” the “peer-reviewed” work of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In reality, scientists are required to examine, review and even criticize other scientists’ research – especially when it is used to justify slashing the hydrocarbon energy on which employment, living standards and civilization depend. Indeed, the IPCC solicits reviews of its publications but is under no obligation to address any criticisms that scientists raise – in contrast to the normal peer-review process.
Unfortunately, the IPCC has refused to conduct its own quality control – and has repeatedly promoted scare stories about rising seas, melting Himalayan glaciers, disappearing Amazon rainforests, more severe storms and droughts, and other disasters. By now anyone familiar with the Climategate and IPCC scandals knows these headline-grabbing claims are based on nothing more than exaggerated computer model outputs, deliberate exclusion of contrary findings, questionable air temperature station locations, and even “research” by environmental activists such as the World Wildlife Fund.
The Climategate emails made it clear that the truth was even worse. The emails paint a vivid picture of advocacy scientists strong-arming the publisher of a science journal, Climate Research, against publishing the work of Willie Soon and his associate, Sallie Baliunas. Pro-IPCC scientists threatened to boycott the journal, and intimidated or colluded with editors and grant program officers to channel funding, published only the work of advocacy scientists and rejected funding requests and publications from any scientists who disagreed with them on global warming. Mr. Suzuki’s efforts mirror their campaign – and no wonder.
The global warming scare has fizzled. The sun has entered a new “quiet” phase, and average global temperatures have been stable for 15 years. Climate conferences in Copenhagen and elsewhere have gone nowhere. Kyoto has become little more than a footnote in history. Countries that agreed to “climate stabilization” policies are retreating from that untenable position. The public realizes that climate science is far from “settled.” The climate-chaos religion is about to go the way of Baal-worship.
Most important, Canadians, Americans and Europeans alike are beginning to realize that the real dangers are not from global warming. They are from potentially cooler global temperatures that could hamstring agriculture – and from government (and Suzuki-advocated) policies that are driving energy prices so high that companies are sending jobs to Asia, and millions of families can no longer afford to heat and cool their homes, drive their cars or pay for the electricity that powers all the wondrous technologies that make our lives infinitely better, safer and healthier than even kings and queens enjoyed just a century ago.
Mr. David R. Legates is Professor of Climatology at the University of Delaware. He has worked with Mr. Willie Soon since they were the first to uncover the flaws in the so-called ‘Hockey Stick’ in 2002."

McGuinty's and Smitherman's subsequent hysteric Liberal Green Energy Act fiasco was fully influenced by the deceptions of the entranced Gorzukion greenshevik crowd. Noticed also that our favourite boor, John Moore (we're working on a sit-com on that, kind of an updated Canadian lefty WKRP... just waiting for the arts funding from the government, though...) on today's Newstalk 1010 show made reference that 'you can't talk to someone who doesn't believe in climate change' - this is the same dismissive Moore who announced a while ago that he was done with climate change as a subject of discussion (fibber!). Of course, Moore didn't specifically mention what he actually meant by "climate change" - we're just supposed to know!
Maybe Moore can get Jim Bradley on for an on-air love-session. Bradley needs the exposure, and Moore can pretend to have a 'debate'.
The Standard'll be jealous.

Jim Bradley's Liberal GreenFear aims to frighten voters
The Aug.10, 2011 National Post editorial "Playing by Stephane Dion's playbook" points out that Dalton McGuinty's deep greeners are fearmongering about climate change again:
There's a whiff of Stéphane Dion in the Ontario government's determination to keep touting its green energy agenda as a key issue in the upcoming October election.
A Nanos poll released Monday found that the environment ranks near the bottom of voter concerns, with just 5.7% naming it as the top issue, a decline of almost three points from June. The poll was intended for federal politics, but if you don't consider the environment a top issue in Ottawa, it seems unlikely you'll consider it one in Ontario.
An internal Liberal memo obtained by the media warned that only four in 10 Ontarians think the government is on the right track with an energy policy that emphasizes alternative sources, backed by a mammoth deal with Samsung and heavily subsidized power rates for wind, solar and other renewable energy projects.
Just last week the government belatedly revised the Samsung deal, cutting $327million off the "incentives" on offer. No politics involved in the decision, of course - nothing to do with the opposition's successful hammering of the agreement as the ultimate sweetheart deal. And surely not a sign that the deal that the McGuinty Liberals originally signed with Samsung, and then defended tooth and nail, was overly generous in the first place.
Yet the Liberals are out on the campaign trail, not only defending the deal but promoting it as a great achievement. Without it, they insist, 16,000 jobs will be lost and billions in investments will leave the province - talking about the figures as if those jobs already existed, and the investments made, when in reality they're just a projection offered up by the Liberals. "The economic impact of killing 16,000 green energy jobs would be like an asteroid hitting the Earth," insisted Liberal candidate Greg Crone on Monday. "It's a planet killer that will throw Ontario into an economic dark age."
Mr. Crone's comparison is colourful, if somewhat over the top - to the best of our knowledge, job losses in Ontario would not likely be deemed a threat to the safety of our planet. What Mr. Crone has overlooked in his apocalyptic hysteria, however, is that the impact of "killing" jobs that don't exist is the same as the impact of an asteroid that doesn't exist: Nothing. The Earth doesn't incinerate, the province doesn't plunge into a dark age, people aren't reduced to foraging for nuts, berries or an occasional tin of Spam.
Mr. Dion tried convincing the country that a similar apocalypse would ensue unless he was elected prime minister so he could implement his Green Shift, which was going to cut income taxes and introduce an environmental nirvana to the country. People didn't buy it, and we know what happened. No apocalypse, except for the Liberals, who do indeed seem to be going the way of the dinosaurs.
What has people far more agitated is the cost of supporting Dalton McGuinty's agenda: Higher power costs, monitored by "smart meters" that got their name because no matter how hard you try to reduce your bill, they can outsmart you. Stephen Harper defeated Mr. Dion by arguing that the economy was a bigger concern than the quest for nirvana, and Ontario's Liberals find themselves in a similar situation today. The U.S. economy, which provides Ontario's biggest market, may be falling into a second recession. Even if it avoids a decline, there's little prospect of actual growth. Europe is teetering on a similar, if not greater, chasm. Those crises could have a serious impact on Canada, making it harder for Ottawa to meet its budget targets and eliminate the deficit. Ontario, which under Mr. McGuinty has become dependent on equalization payments (due to total $2.2-billion this year) is hardly in a position to outperform.
So, with a real issue to address, the Liberals prefer to talk about the environment and the wonders that can be achieved with windmills. Maybe they'll win the vote of the 5% of Ontarians who consider alternative energy their top issue. It's the other 95% that could prove tricky.

It's not just the whiff of Bumbledore Dion we're smelling: it's also the stench of Liberal greenshevist asses Jim Bradley, Brad Duguid, and George Smitherman
Wait till these fearmongering Liberal turds see the ass-teroid that's coming their way in October...(Smitty already saw it in Toronto; but as the GEA is his spawn, it'll be nice to see Furious George defeated yet again)

The NHS's "trouble" did NOT start with the HIP
There was another 'blame the NHS'-style letter (Aug.9, 2011, St.Catharines Standard, "Trouble started with the HIP") by Pat Scholfield (see also here) which prattles on and perpetuates a misguided and disingenuous theory that somehow the NHS created the HIP, all on its own, in a complete political vacuum, insulated from direct political direction, and with no political pressures whatsoever placed on it. Scholfield's selective narrative is, as usual, shallow and disturbingly partisan; the fascistic anti-patient-choice nature of state-run despotic health-care monopolism doesn't enter her sphere of consideration.
The "problem" didn't start with the HIP, as Scholfield claims: the "problem" started with Tommy Douglas, and how his "ideals" were perverted by health-monopoly-pushing politicians of every stripe. The "problem" is with those, Pat, who believe that only just a bit more single-payer despotism, just a bit more creeping government control and interference, will magically solve the "problem" - blithely ignorant to the fact that the "problem" itself IS the failing single-payer, anti-patient-choice, unaccountable Liberal-controlled Ontario health monopoly!
The "problem" with the HIP (which Scholfield magically fails to mention) is that the HIP's creation was forced onto the NHS by Dalton McGuinty's Liberals. Oopsie: forgot to mention that little detail, eh, Pat?!
It was George Smitherman who was directly responsible for the creation of the HIP at the Niagara Health Syustem! The "problem" started when Jim Bradley, Kim Craitor, Dalton McGuinty, George Smitherman and the rest of Ontario's Lying Liberal scumbags were given a carte-blanche majority in 2003.
Contrary to Scholfield's spin, the "drastic" health care changes across Niagara were in fact directly orchestrated NOT by the NHS, but by Dalton McGuinty's incompetent and negligent Liberals.
It was Bradley's and Craitor's Liberal government which underfunded its obligation as sole-monopolist-single-payer-manager of Ontario's fascist health-monopoly, and which ordered its LHIN proxy to force the NHS to create the HIP (supposedly to 'save costs' and 'reduce the deficit', remember?) C'mon, Pat: time for your yellow-shirts to acknowledge this.
No matter how the yellow-shirts try to spin it, the HIP was 100% Liberal made.
Blame the NHS all ya want - just make sure you understand that McGuinty's monopolist Liberal government controls the NHS. Make sure that local Liberal health-care monopolists Jim Bradley and Kim Craitor are held accountable. Make sure you know who's the real 'boss' at the NHS.
Not only did the Niagara HIP originate from the McGuinty Liberal government (with George Smitherman's disgusting stench all over it), it was the Liberal-created and Liberal-directed LHIN which also approved the HIP - after it was vetted by Dr. Jack Kitts - and it was the same Liberal-appointed LHIN which then ordered the NHS to implement it! Later, the Liberals also continually refused to reconsider or review the HIP which they had forced onto the NHS!
Whooooopsie: somehow, Pat just, uh... ummm... forgot to mention all that too!!! Wonder why?
The NHS did not demand the HIP - McGuinty's Liberals demanded it, approved it, and allowed for its implementation!!!
The NHS complied with what their Liberal overseers demanded.
[Now, that same Liberal-run LHIN which originated and also approved the HIP, is in charge of a phony last-minute pre-election investigation to examine the implementation of the HIP!! Honestly - where's Orwell when ya need him?!? What a sham.]
We should be tired of the pervasive, populist, half-baked 'blame the NHS' pre-election propaganda, with its underlying disingenuous narrative by the 'failed-statist-monopoly-denying-left' who choose to ignore the real problem in Niagara.
It is the Liberals, and their like-minded statist monopoly-enforcing acolytes, who are the problem.
