(click on photo to enlarge)On Canada Day I visited a monument dedicated to the memory of Upper Canada's first governor, John Graves Simcoe and his wife Elizabeth, located in Niagara On The Lake. Navy Hall is seen in the rear, overlooking the Niagara River.
It was very quiet in the modest little grass courtyard surrounding the bare memorial; there was no-one there when I came by on the afternoon of July 1.
I could only hear our Canadian maple leaf flag fluttering in the breeze, keeping sentinel from above.
