Kathleen Wynne's Ontario Liberals implement HoskinScare TM health-care cuts

Further to this previous post...
Let's move forward to Chris Malette's Nov.21, 2015 Inside Belleville Metroland Media report about health-care cuts being implemented in Belleville, Ontario, where the QHC "admitted that the news was difficult to announce. The restructuring is intended to allow QHC to remove $11.5 million in expenses next year in order to operate within its reduced funding levels from the province. This includes a $7-million reduction in administration/support departments and $4.5 million in patient care areas, QHC said"
This is the EXACT same duplicitous healthcare-cutting template, which the Liberals followed in Niagara!
Liberal healthcare hack Hoskins is doing the same things that Smitherman, Caplan, and Matthews did before him.
The healthcare budget is set at the whim of health minister Eric Hoskins' monopolist Liberals - therefore, cuts need to be made... end of story!
As an Ontario patient, you have no other choice -
this is HoskinScare TM for you - thanks Dr. Eric!
And: isn't it sadly funny, how Metroland writer Chris Malette didn't even mention the words Kathleen Wynne, Liberal, or Eric Hoskins, in his story!! It's as if... let's see... oh yeah: it's as if Liberals have NOTHING TO DO WITH IT !!!
Wow!! Nice 'reporting' - anyone reading this Metroland Media half-story would never know that any Liberal had anything to do with these health care cuts!!! Amazing!!! Malette's article is the kind of article that could be found in Postmedia's St.Catharines Standard, where MPP Jim Bradley and his Liberal policies have been routinely babied and coddled by the local press, for decades!!!
I'm sure that if this same scenario had unfolded under 'harris', it would have been gleefully noted dozens of times per Metroland article!! (Metroland Media never lets readers down, eh, Mr. Beland Honderich?!)
Here's Belleville's MPP, Progressive Conservative Todd Smith, speaking about the QHC cuts - isn't it funny that Metroland Media reporter Malette didn't even ask the local MPP for an interview!!!
MPP Todd Smith said:
"Fall is in the air and because it is, that can only mean one thing: Another round of cuts and staff uncertainty at Quinte Healthcare hospitals. To make up for an $11.5-million funding shortfall created largely because Ontario’s Liberal government can’t manage money, jobs and services will be cut at hospitals in Picton, Belleville, Bancroft and Trenton. Money is being spent on debt that people in Prince Edward–Hastings want spent on the services they need in their hospitals.
This morning, we learned that in order to close the $11.5-million shortfall, QHC is proposing a reduction of nearly all surgery services at Trenton Memorial, $4.5 million in direct care cuts and changes that one QHC executive calls “very hard on our staff.”
During the years of this government, QHC has been the recipient of almost continual funding shortfalls from the ministry.
Speaker, if I could, I’d like to direct some comments directly to my constituency back at home: The deficit this government is running is costing you your health care services. QHC has had to come up $25 million in cuts over four years to make up for funding shortfalls because the Liberal government at Queen’s Park doesn’t have any money left. The government says money is going into better home care services but the Auditor General says services are being cut there too to pay for fat-cat salaries.
The third largest expense in the budget is how much we pay to service our debt and it’s also the fastest growing.
That’s why cuts like this have gone from being rare to happening annually."

Yet if one reads only Malette's Metroland Media 'report', one would think - as residents of Niagara were similarly conditioned to believe by their local media - that it was just the board of the local hospital making all these 'decisions'!
The link to the Ontario Liberal government's direct monopolist diktat of health-care cuts is not clearly made, at all!!
This is Liberal healthcare duplicity, in its finest most despotic mode.
Let's note again - before Liberal monopoly-supporting, single-payer-defending sycophants start deflecting blame onto the QHC - that the blame squarely belongs to Kathleen Wynne's health-cutting, monopoly-pushing Liberals.
As similarly happened in Niagara, the NHS and the NHS's CEO were conveniently targeted as scapegoats for implementing what were purely Liberal-mandated monopolist health-care cuts.
In Niagara, local Liberal MPP Jim Bradley sat back and smiled contentedly as the local media spun blame onto the NHS - while all along it was Bradley's duplicitous Ontario Liberal government which created the phony budgets and the phony budget cuts in order to manipulate the health-care cuts.
Remember the meme: health-care cuts are 'good' when monopolist Liberals or the NDP do it!
*
Let's fast forward to this Oct.24, 2021 CBC story, which is ostensibly about former PM Jean Chretien talking about Justin Turdo. It's astounding how CBC treats the dictator hack Cretin with such reverence.
We know (but the CBC fails to mention) the DIRECT LINK between Cretin's and Paul Martin's downloading of healthcare funding onto the provinces.
This DIRECTLY impacted Ontario's monoploy state-funded, single-payer health system.
The resultant fallout was that Ontario's Liberal MPP's quickly began blaming the province for 'healthcare cuts' - which their own federal Lib colleagues set in motion). The "Conservatives cut health care" narrative /meme / lie was thus created and happily propagated by the leftist media. Crapbags such as Liberal MPP Jim Bradley in Niagara was one of  many Ontario MPP Libs who benefitted from the disaster that their own federal colleagues created. They spewed the "Conservatives cut health care" lie for years.

Niagara press refuses to press Liberal Jim Bradley for response to lousy LHIN report

It's funny how the St.Catharines Standard Bradley Bootlicker had absolutley no coverage of the Niagara LHIN's pathetic healthcare performance, as was outlined in a Feb.19, 2013 Hamilton Spectator story.

The Spectator story noted that "during the most-recently reported quarter, the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN registered either the second-worst or third-worst performance out of 14 LHINs in each of the three categories".

Isn't it funny that, say, the Standard's Don Fraser wasn't immediately sent out in the rain on his waterskis to interview Niagara's Liberal healthcare-monopoly-pushing-hack, Ole Jim Bradley, for his comments on his Liberal health-care monopoly's abysmal record!

Isn't that what would have happened, had some Conservative been our local MPP?! Sure it would have!!

If it was anyone else but Ole Liberal Jimmy, Wendy Metcalfe's self-appointed laughable wrong-righters would have been falling over themselves to ambush the politician and demand answers!!

But, hey - this is Ole Liberal stalwart MPP Jim Bradley were talkin' 'bout, after all: Niagara's local press is loathe to ask their BestBoyJim anything, especially if it means it might make Ole Buddy Jimmy look bad.

Niagara's pathetic excuse for reporting, known as the St.Catharines Standard, ignored the LHIN report!!

How many days will it take for the Standard to contact their buddy Bradley for answers??! [nothing yet, by Feb.25...!!]

What, are Standard staffers holding marathon midnight meetings, trying desperately to craft and assemble a puffball question or two, sanitized enough so as not to only make Ole Jimmy look good even in these circumstances, but to create the impression that Ole Monopolist Jimmy really has nothing whatsoever to do with this - with any of it!!

So, go to it, Bradley Shoeshiners!! Get your rhetorical can of partisan paste out, and lovingly start rubbing Bradley's boots!!

And remember: just don't tell sicko Michael Moore about any of this, and, don't dare ask Liberal MPP Jim Bradley for answers about why, as the Spectator reported -

 • The HNHB [Hamilton Niagara Haldimand  Brant] LHIN had the second-longest 90th percentile wait time (33.4 hours) for ER patients admitted and the second-longest average wait time (16 hours) in the province. The Mississauga-Halton LHIN had the longest waits in both cases.

or why

• At Greater Niagara General Hospital, one in 10 ER patients eventually admitted to a hospital bed waited at least 51 hours in the emergency department

or why

• At St. Catharines General, one in 10 high-acuity patients spent at least 10 hours in the ER.

It is for the best that no one from the St.Catharines Standard demand health care accountability and answers from Liberal monopolists such as Jim Bradley! (Just as it was for the best that the disgusting St.Catharines Standard protected their buddy Jim Bradley and did not bother to pursue him, as dozens of Niagara C. diff patients were dying in Bradley's local Liberal health monopoly!!)

Gosh; over a period of what - two decades? - the Standard has never even been able to bring itself to ask Liberal GreenFear-monger and Environment Minister Jim Bradley for his definitive proof that green bolshevism cures AGW!!

The Standard has never bothered to specifically ask Ole Liberal Jim Bradley to publicly detail when exactly Bradley first learned about his cabinet colleague Bartolucci's secret G20 law!

And - now that we have Kathleen "I know nothing... nooooothhhing..." Wynne, the pantsuited McGuinty surrogate, telling us that she was never at any cabinet meeting where McGuinty's clandestine 'Project Vapour' gas-plant/vote-buying scheme was being discussed - the St.Catharines Standard will most certainly not bother to ask Niagara's vapourous ole Jim Bradley whether Ole Jimmy was there at McGuinty's cabinet table for those Bond-villain-esque Project Vapour meetings!

So, why would the Standard's LiberalFriendly reporter/stenographers bother to ask MPP's Jim Bradley or Kim Craitor about 51 HOUR WAIT TIMES in their own local Liberal-run local healthcare monopoly?!!!

Buffalo N.Y. health-care a solution to Ontario Liberal monopoly failures?

Further to this previous post here ...

... where is the vociferous left-wing opposition to this cross-border health care proposal?!!

As Allan Benner wrote in "Cross border hospital services pitched" (Welland Tribune, Nov.26, 2012):

"PORT COLBORNE - Dr. Nick Hopkins recalled a stroke patient who arrived the Gates Vascular Institute paralyzed and unable to speak.
Not long ago, that patient would have spent her remaining years in a nursing home — if she patient survived.
Instead, she walked out of the hospital a day later to carry on with a normal life. One that Hopkins learned recently included participation in a San Diego marathon six months after she was discharged from the Buffalo institute.
“This is the kind of result we can get,” Hopkins said, adding it’s an example of “a whole new paradigm for the treatment of acute stroke” offered over the river.
“Right now there’s no place in southern Ontario where you can get that kind of treatment.”
Hopkins was one of several physicians and health care administrators from Kaleida Health hospital system in Buffalo as well as the University of Rochester Medical Centre who visited Port Colborne Monday to meet with South Niagara Health Care Corp. to discuss the benefits of crossing the border to access medical services that are not available locally.
South Niagara Health Care Corp. general manager Joanne Ferraccioli said that kind partnership is not without precedent.
She said Dr. Gord Vail, a physician from Windsor, worked with the Local Health Integrated Network, the provincial government and hospitals in Detroit to allow select patients to travel to Detroit for treatments not available in the Windsor area.
As a result, she said it has resulted in better outcomes for select patients “and the reimbursement rate through OHIP is actually lower, it’s actually more fiscally responsible.”
Patients are returned to Canada for all their post-operative care, she added.
South Niagara Health Care Corp. is hoping to develop an initiative similar to the Windsor-Detroit partnership to benefit south Niagara and beyond, allowing easier access to medical services in nearby U.S. cities. It would, however, ultimately require approval from the Ministry of Health and LHIN.
“If someone is very sick with a heart attack, you should send them to Buffalo as the closest hospital,” stressed Dr. David Janicke of Kaleida Health.
“It’s extremely important to get your patients … your citizens to an acute care hospital as quickly as possible and if there isn’t one close by, nothing could be better than a hospital that’s 20 or 30 minutes away.”
Hopkins said the Buffalo facility also allows medical specialists to work more closely together to offer better patient care.
He recalled one patient undergoing surgery for a stroke.
“(The patient) had a cardiac arrest on the table. In the old days six months ago, that would have been a Chinese fire drill. We would have been scrambling to find a cardiologist, but now within a few seconds we had two cardiologists in the room barking out orders and taking care of the heart while we went ahead and fixed the head.""

Where's the NDP, trotting out that old chestnut about 'Tommy Douglas spinning in his grave'?
Where's Naomi Lakritz?
Where's Barbara Yaffe?
Where's Mike Dukakis??
Where's Linda Silas to guilt us about our 'national spirit'?
Where's Sicko Michael Moore?
Where's Mike McBane?
Where's Richard Murri?
Where's Liberal-appointed NHS supervisor Kevin Smith, lecturing us all about the "Canadian Way"?
Where's Liberal Kim Craitor, bragging about the superiority of his Liberal monstrous single-payer health-care monopoly?!
Where's Jim Bradley, whining about the dangers of evil, two-tier privatized American health care?! Where's Jim Bradley's rhetorical chestnut, warning us about that nefarious 'Slippery Slope' of 'U.S.-style health-care'?!

{Let's not forget: right now there's a Liberal leadership race going on in McGuinty-prorogued Ontario; yet, none of those Liberal leadership hacks - one of whom will, sickeningly, become Ontario's unelected Premier - has said a thing about this proposal! Isn't now the time for these Liberal leaders to unanimously condemn this proposal?!}

For years, Liberals smugly derided Buffalo's health care system - all the while shuffling Ontario patients to Buffalo and other U.S. cities, because Ontario's Liberal-run health monopoly could not provide patients the required care in their own country!

After all these years of Jim Bradley's Liberal healthcare duplicity and rhetoric; after all of Jim Bradley's anti-American jingoism; after all of Jim Bradley's incessant health-care cuts and health-care tax-increases - Jim Bradley's Liberal single-payer, state-run health monopoly still cannot deliver the Utopian care which Bradley for decades claimed it could.

Why is Liberal loud mouth Jim 'I-hate-doctors' Bradley now suddenly silent, in the face of such dastardly intrusion, unfolding right on Jimmy's own doorstep in Niagara?!

Why is Ole Jimmy not smugly railing on and on about how these Yankees aren't welcome in Canada, the same way Bradley and his buddy Smitherman did when they ridiculously agitated against the U.S. company Lifeline, by 'deputizing Ontarians to stop them at the border'  ?!! (see: here pg.44-45, and here, and here, and here and here)

Did the editors of the St.Catharines Standard bother asking their Liberal buddy 'Silent Jim' Bradley about this proposal?! (...of course not!! Jimmy's protected from media scrutiny!!)

Deb Matthews: it's not about the 'confidence in the NHS' as you claim; it's about what YOUR Liberals have done to the NHS

The St.Catharines Standard's Jeff Bolichowsky wrote a Sept.2, 2011 piece, stating that "Ontario is the only province where an ombudsman does not have a mandate to oversee hospitals".

However, this intrepid Standard reporter, naturally, DID NOT bother to ask the local Liberal MPP in his own city, Jim Bradley, why this might be! Was reporter Bolichowsky warned by his editors not to mention or involve Liberal Jim Bradley in any possibly-embarrassing policy questions?!

Wow: after all the secrecy and lies and patient-deaths surrounding McGuinty's Liberal healthcare monopoly, is it any wonder that McGuinty's Liberals DID NOT want the ombudsman nosing around their health monopoly?

Deb Matthews is hypocritical beyond belief when she crows piously that she's "sad when I see people playing politics with something as important as health care"! What a dump-load of crap that is, spewed by the Liberals for whom health-care [specifically, ideologically-motivated monopolist health-care] IS NOTHING BUT POLITICAL!!

Come on, Deb -  your Liberal contrition is so phony, you should be embarrassed. This is NOT about the 'confidence in the hospital', as Deb Matthews claims, and wants us to believe: IT'S ABOUT WHAT HER MONOPOLIST LIBERALS HAVE DONE TO THE NHS !!

What glib, deceptive Grit greaseballs these McGuintyites are! This is from the same sanctimonious Liberals who created the LHIN's, and who forced the NHS to create the cost-cutting Niagara HIP!!

These are the same Liberals who under scummy Smitherman  ran away and hid from having any public inquiry into their last killer C. difficile outbreak in 2008!!

Why didn't reporter Bolichowsly ask Niagara's local Liberal hacks Bradley and Kim Craitor why - after eight years of Liberal majority rule - the ombudsman STILL doesn't have access to hospitals?!!

How many Ontario patients would have been spared death in McGuinty's health-care horror hospitals if the ombudsman had been allowed independent access to scrutinize what McGuinty's monopolists were doing?

Waazzat, you say: but Deb Matthews did allow the ombudsman into the NHS!! She is gloriously transparent!!

Sorry: this last-minute pre-election Supervisor/ombudsman game we see unfolding in Niagara was a planned one-off affair; this is in no way the same as the ombudsman having full investigatory access to any Ontario hospital, anytime, without Liberal-government-pre-approval.

McGuinty's secretive Liberals refuse to allow that kind of independent scrutiny of their failing ideological single-payer health monopoly.

Bolichowsky also failed to mention that it's not just activities within the hospitals which McGuinty, Bradley, and Craitor want to keep the lid on, but the ENTIRE 'MUSH' SECTOR (Municipalities, Universities, School boards, Hospitals) is a no-go zone for ombudsman scrutiny; McGuinty's secretive Liberals have ensured that Ontario has the most limited ombudsman access to these sectors in all of Canada.

But why would the self-appointed wrong-righters at theSt.Catharines Standard bother to ask their pride'n'joy JimmyBoy about such trivial matters?!

Why weren't McGuinty's Liberals charged for their 2008 Ontario C. difficile cover-up?

Brett Clarkson reported in  "C.difficile deaths up to 24; NHS pledges 'new corporate culture'" (Niagara Falls Review, Jul.19, 2011):

"As another patient who had acquired C. difficile died Monday at the St. Catharines General Hospital, local health officials announced that a new infection control manager has been brought in from Hamilton to help the Niagara Health System manage the ongoing outbreaks.
Andrea Iacurti, a registered nurse with a certification in infection control based at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton, started with the NHS on a secondment Monday and will be reviewing NHS practices, cleaning schedules, and sharing strategies until the NHS hires a full-time infection control manager.
"Andrea started today and will report to Kim Stephens-Woods, our vice-president of patient services," said Dr. Sue Matthews, interim president and CEO of the NHS.
The death of the patient in St. Catharines early Monday raises the total number of deaths associated with the outbreak reported by the NHS to 24 since the first outbreak was declared on May 28.
"This patient had multiple health issues and passed away this morning," Matthews said.
The total number of cases reported by the NHS for the three outbreaks in St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls was at 75 on Monday.
So far there has been 13 deaths at the St. Catharines General, six at Welland County General Hospital, and four at Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls.
As well, Matthews drew a line in the sand between the NHS' "new corporate culture" and the health system's previous efforts to stonewall a Hamilton media outlet's freedom-of-information request about the 2008 C. difficile outbreak at GNGH.
The request for information sought info about how the 2008 outbreak was dealt with. Twice, the release of that information was blocked by the NHS.
"This approach is inconsistent with our new corporate culture and I have directed those involved to allow the disclosure to proceed," Matthews said. "As I've said previously, I'm committed to adhering to the highest standard of transparency."
Matthews said that the information, which could possibly be released in a matter of days, will likely shine a negative light on the NHS and its infection-control practices three years ago — practices she said have been improved greatly since then.
"I do expect that the content of the FOI request will include statements of concern about our infection control practices in the past," Matthews said. "Though I find this concerning, in the time since the emails and these information were authored, we have made tremendous strides towards the best possible practices."
The NHS' ongoing public relations campaign, which now includes daily media briefings, comes amid criticism from the public and elected officials who accuse the NHS of being less than forthcoming with public disclosure. That criticism evolved to anger and eventually lead to a protest in Niagara Falls on July 6 after word emerged that the four C. difficile-related deaths at GNGH happened between May 12 and June 16 but weren't divulged until an outbreak was declared on June 23.
On Friday the site head of GNGH, Frank Demizio, announced his intention to retire at the end of August, a move that Matthews said had nothing to do with the current controversy enveloping the hospital, which is also battling outbreaks of VRE and MRSA.
As well, former communications chief Christine Clark departed the NHS in early July.
Matthews credited St. Joseph's in Hamilton for helping the NHS manage the outbreak and said Brady Wood, a St. Joseph's public relations director, has also been working with the NHS. So has Dr. Christina Lee, an infection control physician also based at St. Joseph's, Matthews said.
Asked about the safety of the hospitals, Matthews said she understands the public's fear but said that anybody who needs to go to an emergency room or hospital should still go.
As well, Dr. Joanna Hope, NHS interim chief of staff, said the symptoms of C. difficile include diarrhea as well as generalized symptoms including fever, chills, feeling ill, and cramps. However, there can also be serious complications including bloody diarrhea, acute renal failure, also known as kidney failure, and toxic megacolon, a form of colonic distension, which can sometimes require surgery".
*

Only now - after two dozen patients died in Niagara - they're bringing in an infection control manager - and temporarily, at that? Sounds like way too little, way too late, doesn't it?

Why didn't Jim Bradley and Kim Craitor's Liberals fund such a position full-time, since the last Ontario C. diff outbreak?

Didn't Kimmy'n'Jimmy think Niagara's patients deserved full time infection control?! Funny about that, isn't it: Kim'n'Jim's Liberals didn't call a public inquiry into that last killer C. diff outbreak of theirs in 2008, so, Ontarians weren't told whether such a position ('infection-control manager') would be necessary in Niagara's hospitals. Liberals made sure Ontarians weren't told about all the problems ...

So, let's see - what do the Liberals who dictate how Ontario's health-monopoly-prison is run, think??

Hm, funny: there's nothing from Niagara's secretive, health-monopoly pushing scumbag MPP Jim Bradley on what happened during that period in 2008, with all those HUNDREDS of C. diff deaths in Ontario, when Jim Bradley, Kim Craitor, and George Smitherman shut down and refused to call an inquiry into that monopolist-murder.
McGuinty's negligent Liberals told us all to wash our hands, and that all would be fine; McGuinty's Liberals told us that they knew all there was to know about C. difficile, so therefore, no public inquiry was needed.

As we now see, McGuinty's lying Liberals perpetrated a deadly health-care fraud onto Ontario's patients.
We don't know how many lives might have been saved in Niagara in 2011, had we been properly informed back in 2008 - through an independent inquiry - as to the correct infection control procedures and protocols which ought to be implemented province-wide; we were simply browbeaten and bullshitted by McGuinty and Smitherman's Liberals to 'trust them' that 'all was gonna be OK'. McGuinty's Gritty corporate-political-fascist culture is one of  Liberal healthcare duplicity.

Funny how NOW, these two outbreaks are being linked: read the red portion of the story above: an ombudsman's or other independent inquiry in 2008 (which McGuinty's Liberals refused to allow) would have certainly uncovered the reasons behind the McGuinty-Smitherman-Craitor-Bradley Liberal government's C. difficile cover-up.
We see that in 2008 McGuinty's Liberal scumbags tried - successfully - to keep the NHS's information hidden, in the same way they tried to keep their entire province-wide C. diff disaster covered-up.

Since the NHS does not make policy, is not independent, and does not raise its own funding, and is entirely a creature of the Ontario government (as is the NHS's overseer, the Liberal-created LHIN) we therefore require a criminal investigation into what specific directions McGuinty and his Liberal ministers gave the NHS, since 2003, and what the repercussions were, in terms of preventable C. difficile patient deaths.
The NHS's 'transparency' or lack thereof was directly related to what it was told to do by the Liberal government which controlled and funded them!!
Where, for example, is the subpoena for ALL of George Smitherman's five-year's-worth of correspondence with the NHS, including all of his ministerial discussions and directives??

Two dozen dead C. diff  patients in Niagara (so far...) and Jim The Pathetic Liberal Scumbag Monopolist Bradley hides from view.
Why isn't secretive Jimmy calling for more transparency?!!!

This FLICKING Liberal gang of single-payer health-care monopolists should be in jail.
Corrections Minister Jim Bradley could wear a GPS on his ankle when he's let out on parole in twenty years.

McGuinty's monopolist Liberals proud of their killer C. difficile outbreaks

Here's Jonathan Sher and Adela Talbot's Jul.15, 2011 London Free Press report Health minister defends Ontario's C. difficile fight:

"The provincial government is proud of actions it has taken to protect patients against infection, Health Minister Deb Matthews insisted Friday.
Matthews, MPP for London-North-Centre, said the Excellent Care For All legislation, passed last year with unanimous support, requires hospitals to develop continuous improvement plans and to publicly report on hospital safety and patient satisfaction.
"Ontario hospitals are working very hard to reduce infection rates . . . to protect the safety of patients," she said.
"We're proud of what we've done and we want to keep working (toward) progress."
Most hospitals, including London's, use a slow, dated and inaccurate method of detection, scientists say.
More modern tests take hours or less rather than days and are much more accurate, Public Health Ontario acknowledges.
That may be true, but it's ultimately up to the hospitals themselves to choose what technology they want to use, Matthews said.
"Many hospitals have made the decision to switch over . . . and we want to support our hospitals," she said.
"I'm proud of the investments and the progress we have seen when it comes to getting infection rates down. This isn't about politics, it's about patient safety."
Only a few hospitals have moved to the newer test and all after outbreaks of C. difficile -- those in Hamilton and Niagara, while London will make the transition soon.
The new tests cost more, between two and four times as much as the older tests, and that has proven an obstacle to hospitals that get no added money from the Health Ministry for making the switch.
The newer tests detect the DNA of the superbug while older tests only look for toxins it may produce and missing many superbugs in the process, microbiologists say.
And in the long run, the new test might save money by catching cases sooner, starting treatment earlier and reducing the spread of C. difficile, microbiologists say, Ontario's acting chief medical officer of health, Dr. David Williams, has defended the province's response to C. difficile outbreaks, saying he had "full confidence in the province's health-care system to effectively and efficiently manage any hospital acquired infections."
--- --- ---
THE OUTBREAKS
  • Welland C. difficile patient dies, another hospital worker infected
  • Niagara Health System chief Sue Matthews vows crackdown on a "gap in knowledge" about infection control among staff.
  • Latest patient death brings the total to 23 since the first Niagara outbreak was declared in St. Catharines May 28.
  • At least 20 patient deaths were hospital-acquired cases; two others acquired the infection in the community.
  • A caregiver at Welland hospital, who tested positive Friday for C. difficile, had been off work sick since July 13."
*
So McGuinty's Liberals are proud of their killer C. difficile record - while distancing themselves from their own health budget underfunding!
Deb Matthews made clear her intention to distance herself from any culpability in the latest C. diff outbreak, by foisting the responsibility onto the hospitals.
Deb Matthews is saying 'Oh, sure, these hospitals chose not to invest in the new, higher cost tests - it ain't my problem, I'm proud to say!! I've got my Liberal monopolist ass covered from liability!!'
But the point which Matthews avoids acknowledging is that her LIBERAL MONOPOLIST, LHIN-FILTERED BLOCK-FUNDING is an obstacle for the budget-strapped hospitals, when it comes to using the new infection-detection protocol (..and in many other areas, as well)
Here is the devious duplicity of the McGuinty's Liberals at work again, in its finest two-faced despotic glory: enforce a single-payer monopoly, while at the same time, forcing hospitals to forsake one standard of infection-detection for another, lesser standard, due to Liberal ideological monopolist block funding limitations. Allocate state-monopolist funding for a lower standard of care, then hold yourself harmless for the subsequent deaths by proudly pointing out 'hey - those hospitals chose to stick with the old detection guidelines!'
Liberal ass-covering genius, isn't it?
(...and forget about how McGuinty's Liberals under Smitherman hid from investigation back in 2008, after hundreds of Ontario C. diff deaths!)
The fact that McGuinty and Deb Matthews chose not to implement and fund the latest technologies system-wide, across Ontario, is, amazingly, NOT MENTIONED by Deb!!!
And as for Niagara's dead and infected patients, who had believed the Liberal lies, and who had thought that Jim Bradley's and Kim Craitor's glorious Liberals were funding a high standard of health care: hahaha; all yer gonna get from Mcginny is adequate healthcare... maybe... and don't you dare ask for a legal definition of "adequate health care" either, dammit...

The filthy health care hospital pit known as the Liberal Jim Bradley Wing

Here is C.J. Duffy's shocking July 13, 2011 letter in Niagara This Week:

Has C.J. Duffy contacted St.Catharines Liberal MPP Jim Bradley about this filthy health-care pit?

Jimmy and Deb Matthews are in charge of Ontario's health care system - where is secretive Liberal Jim Bradley's response to this letter? This occurred in Bradley's own St. Catharines riding! Why is Jim Bradley utterly mute on this issue? (I'm sure - hardee-har-har - that Mike Williscraft is sending a NTW reporter to Bradley's office asap!) Bradley hasn't bothered to publicly respond to this letter either!

Oh, yeah.... and why isn't St.Catharines mayor, the always-oh-so-so-soooo-concerned Brian McMullan 'demanding answers' to this single-payer health-care travesty in his city?! Why isn't Mayor McFullofit demanding that his monopolist buddy Jim Bradley publicly address Mr. Duffy's concerns?? (yeah: as if...)

Until June 20, 2008, George Smitherman was McGuinty's monopolist health minister, after that date in 2008, it was David Caplan - have either of these two Grits replied to Duffy's concerns; has Duffy contacted either of them about his dismal, frightening experiences at the St.Catharines NHS franchise of McGuinty's Liberal health-monopoly?

The NHS only mops on Friday - yet, Jim Bradley only answers questions what - once a FLICKING year??? There's no water to wash your hands - yet Jim Bradley and Dalton McGuinty have washed their hands of any complicity for the Mess in the NHS!!

McGuinty's disgusting Liberal health-monopoly-pushing despots need to be punished for the disaster they have foisted onto Ontario's patients.

American health-care insurance a relief to Canadians

The July 14, 2011 St.Catharines Standard finally got around to reporting that U.S. health-care insurance from the Mayo Clinic through Calgary-based MyCare Insurance is available to Canadians (except in Quebec):
(click photo to enlarge!)
Can't wait for health-care monopolists McGuinty and his sanctimonious Liberal MPP's such as Jim Bradley and Kim Craitor to complain about this and demand that this be stopped immediately (the way Bradley and his buddy Smitherman did when Lifeline wanted to come to Ontario... remember that Liberal-fanned-anti-American-health-care-chauvinism/xenophobia?!?! If you forgot, then see: here pg.44-45, and here, and here, and here and here!)

Good gaia - what's next: these Americans will want to start building hospitals in Canada as well!!
We can't have any of that - it might put Bradley and Craitor out of work, y'see.

Good riddance to another McGuinty Liberal monopolist

It is great to see that David Caplan - one of McGuinty's health ministers who repeatedly refused to re-examine the HIP which  Smitherman's LHIN had forced the Niagara Health System to create under severe political duress - is quitting.
Former health minister Caplan should also be accountable in any subsequent criminal investigations regarding his secretive Liberals' culpability in avoiding any public investigation into the hundreds of  C. difficile deaths in Ontario in 2006-08 (with false reassurances that an inquiry wouldn't tell the Liberals anything new about C. diff than they already knew; it's unbelievable, but that is what McGuinty's monopolists said...) and the subsequent 2011 C. difficile deaths in Niagara (22 dead as of Jul.14, 2011).
Hope Jim Bradley and Kim Craitor soon join Caplan in Liberal hell.

21 Niagara C. diff patients now dead in Liberal-run health-monopoly; chief local Liberal monopolist Jim Bradley disappears

Grant Lafleche reported in the  July 9, 2011 St.Catharines Standard that, as of late Jul.8, 2011,  21 C. difficile patients have now died in Niagara:

"Wash your hands."
It's a phrase Niagara Health System officials have repeated like a mantra since the C. difficile outbreak began in May. It's the single most important thing anyone can do, they say, to contain the spread of the potentially lethal bacteria.
But on Friday — after she reported three more outbreak patients had died — interim CEO Sue Matthews said nurses are finding some visitors are becoming increasingly agitated and refuse to wash to their hands.
"As a nurse, I can tell you that dealing with aggressive people is a daily part of the job. You have a greater chance of being assaulted if you are a nurse than if you are a cop," Matthews said.
"People are refusing to wash their hands when asked by nurses, and we have to tell them now that if they refuse, we will call security and they will escort them out of the building."
No nurses have been physically assaulted, Matthews said, but some have dealt with verbal abuse from people flatly refusing to wash their hands. By not doing so, these visitors risk spreading C. difficile in the hospital or bringing it home with them.
While Matthews was puzzled about why visitors would take the risk of not washing their hands, she also had to report three more C. difficile patients have died, bringing the total number of C. difficile patients who have died since the first outbreak was declared May 28 to 21.
Of the three most recent deaths, two were from the St. Catharines General Hospital. The third was a patient at the Niagara-on-the-Lake hospital. Matthews said although that facility is not in outbreak and has only one other C. difficile patient, the death was reported in the interests of transparency.
"We have heard from the media and the public that they want this kind of information," she said, referring to criticism from Niagara Falls politicians who attacked the NHS for not reporting C. difficile deaths prior to the outbreak being declared at the Niagara Falls hospital June 23.
Twelve of the C. diff deaths occurred in St. Catharines. Of the 21, 20 were outbreak patients who contracted the illness in hospital. The other was a community-acquired infection.
Matthews also said an epidemiologist from the Public Health Agency of Canada will spend the next three weeks in Niagara examining the NHS outbreak data. The doctor will look at how the health system collects and uses information and might offer recommendations on how to improve it to better see developing trends in the hospital and infection control measures.
Matthews said she hopes the epidemiologist might be able to shed some light on the origins of the outbreak. According to Ministry of Health and Long Term Care data prior to the end of May, St. Catharines General had a C. difficile infection rate that was the same as other Ontario hospitals of similar size.
That changed drastically with the outbreak.
"So we are hoping the epidemiologist can help us understand what happened," Matthews said.
Outbreaks at the Greater Niagara General Hospital and the Welland hospital were declared June 23.
On Thursday, the Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines, which receives patients from all three NHS hospitals, also declared a C. difficile outbreak. No patients have died at the rehab centre and Dieu Shaver officials said Friday its outpatient services remain open for its patients".

 -
Thankfully, though, Lafleche didn't bother to mention or provide any comments from any Liberal health-monopolists for this story; naturally, St.Catharines' own Liberal MPP Jim Bradley was nowhere to be found, hidden in a protective media cone of silence.
Lafleche did NOT bother to mention that Jim Bradley's Liberals REFUSED to hold a public inquiry into the PREVIOUS C. difficile outbreak in Ontario - - - back in 2008!
    {After all, what's Good Ole Jimmy gots ta do wid any o' dis stuff, eh??!}
In 2008, Bradley's Liberals were telling Ontarians that everything's ok, that there was no need to worry, that the Liberals have dealt with the deadly C. difficile issue... yet, here we are again in 2011 - - and more Ontarians are dead from C. dif -  and SOMEHOW {!!} the local media SPIN and HIDE from the fact that the Liberals lied about their previous C. difficile claims.
When Matthews now blabbers about "hoping the epidemiologist can help us understand what happened", Lafleche - if  he was a reporter not a spin-doctor - would have asked why this very same question hadn't already been answered back in 2008, when the Liberals could have obtained  a vast array of information and developed subsequent state-of-the-art policy by participating in a C. diff  public inquiry.
Future lives could certainly have been saved had  a pre-emptive transparent inquiry been held in 2008. (After all: hundreds of C. dif deaths had ALREADY THEN occurred in Ontario.)
Instead, the Liberals PURPOSEFULLY HID from a public inquiry in 2008, lied about their so-called C. dif measures, and viola: Liberal single-payer-policy killed MORE ONTARIANS in 2011.
It's beyond belief that any hospital officials in 2011 can say they doesn't fully understand what happened... because, THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT A PUBLIC INQUIRY would have examined!!
This begs the question: did the disgusting Liberal health minister hack Deb Matthews 'understand what happened' in 2011? Did the disgusting Liberal health minister hack Smitherman ever 'understand what happened' on his watch in 2008?!
Did ANY Liberal understand anything, whether in 2008 or in 2011?
These Liberals were holding the ENTIRE POPULATION of Ontario hostage in a single-payer health monopoly which was KILLING PATIENTS, and these despotic Liberals (solely for political motives) FAILED to protect their hostages. The hostages had NO CHOICE but to attend hospitals in Ontario, which were run under Liberal  monopolist policies.
But Lafleche DID NOT bother to bring up any such questions!
What we got from the St.Catharines Standard was AWARD-WINNING PROPAGANDA.
Far be it for any Standard hack to point out the links between what the Liberals did and said in 2008, to what happened  - AGAIN - in Niagara in 2011; and then, to follow-up with any Liberal (such as their own local Liberal pet Jim Bradley) on this deadly Liberal incompetence.
It's astounding to see such a crafted piece of deflective hagiography as Lafleche's July 9, 2011 story, which deceptively OMITS any mention of any Liberals {... now THAT's "award-winning" propaganda!!}, as if no Liberal anywhere in Ontario ever had anything to do with the C. difficile issue. Lafleche made sure not to provide any context to his story by omitting any examination of the Ontario Liberals' past actions on the C. diff issue.

All that any Ontario reporter has to do in 2011, is re-read the lies uttered by Liberal Dalton McGuinty, as seen in this Sept.25, 2008 St.Catharines Standard story, and compare it to what is happening less than 3 years later in the summer of 2011.
    Read it and weep:
In 2008, the lying Liberal conman McGuinty claimed his Liberals had a 'good understanding' of C. difficile and the manner in which it is spread'..
In 2008 -  standing in Ontario's legislature, no less - the lying Liberal conman McGuinty falsely assured Ontarians that 'hospitals now know how to protect against the spread of C. difficile'.
In 2008, the Liberal liar McGuinty said that a public inquiry was not needed, because some un-named "medical experts" told him that 'an inquiry would not tell them anything they didn't already know'.

Yet, in 2011, the 'experts' and the politicians in Niagara quite obviously DID NOT know what McGuinty had negligently claimed they 'already knew' in 2008.
Read it and see the bald-faced Liberal lies and deception, perpetrated upon Ontario's hostage-patients in 2008; then in 2011 see the subsequent bald-faced attempts by the Liberal-loving media to act as apologist-white-washers for the guilty Liberal liars:

...When C.diff reared its ugly head
Jim Bradley and his Standard asslickers turned and fled
                                            Brave, brave Liberal propagandists...

McGuinty's Liberals lied; C. diff patients died

ALERT:

Take a look here at duplicitous Dalton McGuinty's possibly-homicidal bald-faced health-care lies, which McGuinty made to Ontarians, as seen in a Sept. 24, 2008 report by CP's Keith Leslie.

Look at what Ontario's Premier Liberal Liar McGuinty said:

"...McGuinty said hospitals now know how to protect against the spread of C. difficile, and he noted that medical experts say an inquiry would not tell them anything they don't already know.
"The experts that we hear from, both here in Ontario and from south of the border, (say) we have a good understanding of C. difficile and the manner in which it is spread," McGuinty told the legislature.
"The next thing that we could and must do is to make information public about the incidents of C. difficile in our hospitals, and that's what we plan to do."

*

The Liberal scumbag McGuinty told us in 2008 that "hospitals now know how to protect against the spread of C. difficile"   - but, McGuinty WAS LYING!! Where was this 'protection' for Niagara's  C. diff patients?

Just look at Dalton McGuinty's and Jim Bradley's disgusting, despotic Liberal record, folks: these Liberal scumbags are dangerous, deceptive LIARS.

McGuinty blatantly deceived us in 2008 with his political claims that an inquiry 'would not tell us anything more than we already knew': yet, if that were true, then why did Niagara's killer C. diff outbreak occur in 2011??

If McGuinty's Liberal health-care monopolists, in 2008, truly had "a good understanding of C. difficile and the manner in which it spreads" - then WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE FOR THIS CLAIM, three years later in Niagara, when twenty more C. diff patients were killed in the Liberal's despotic health monopoly??

This was outright Liberal fraud.

Why isn't anyone in the media challenging McGuinty on his blatant lies?!

And in 2008, McGuinty spun more yarns about 'making C. diff information available to the public' - yet, in 2011, Niagara's population had NO IDEA that a C. diff outbreak was brewing within the NHS - because McGuinty's Liberal health-care monopoly KEPT IT SECRET !!

This deliberate, ideologically-based Liberal negligence is mind-boggling in its blatantly deceptive, monopolist depravity: 'We know what's best for you; so just shut up and don't ask any questions'.

Why aren't Dalton McGuinty and his Liberal cabinet in jail for the consequences of their health-care lies??

Liberals have lied, patients have died.

The Liberals are responsible.

NHS was "not aware" of C. diff cleaning product until now... seriously?

The St.Catharines Standard reported in "NHS steps up cleaning to fight C. diff" (July 6, 2011):

"Every facility run by the Niagara Health System will be cleansed "from top to bottom" with a powerful agent designed to kill C. difficile spores, officials said Tuesday.
Health system CEO Sue Matthews said a Virox "rescue gel" will be used in all hospitals. Patients will be temporarily moved out of their rooms and everything inside from wheelchairs to walls will be cleaned with the agent, in a bid to eliminate the potential spread of the bacteria that caused outbreaks in hospitals in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland.
"We are still in the early phases of planning this," she said during a news briefing in Welland. "But we have already started in three sites, because we did not want to wait. Those sites are Niagara Falls, Welland and the St. Catharines site."
Matthews said the NHS uses Virox cleaning products regularly, including during outbreaks. Using the rescue gel for a one-time, system-wide cleanse was a recommendation made by a team of inspectors from Public Health Ontario who visited the St. Catharines General Hospital last week.
"This is a product we were not aware of before the team came down," Matthews said. "This is one of the reasons we invited them."
C. difficile has two forms, explained NHS interim chief of staff Dr. Joanna Hope. One, an active form dubbed "vegetative" that makes people sick, is easily killed by using alcohol-based hand-washing substances installed in hospitals.
In its other form, the C. difficile bacteria is protected in a spore that allows it to survive in otherwise hostile environments. The bacteria can lay dormant in the human digestive system until antibiotics used to treat another condition kill so-called "good bacteria" that keep the C. difficile in check.
Once they are gone, the C. difficile leaves the spore and can make a patient very ill.
Hope said the spores can also survive outside a host on furniture and other areas and can be spread on the hands of people. The use of the Virox gel is an attempt to kill any spores that might be lurking in the hospitals.
The NHS declared an outbreak May 28 at the St. Catharines General, and then at the Niagara Falls and Welland hospitals in late June.
Since then, 17 C. difficile patients have died across all three hospitals, 16 of whom acquired the infection in a hospital. The other is said to have acquired it outside the hospital. Eleven of those deaths occurred at the St. Catharines hospital.
Hope is conducting a review of all the deaths to determine what role C. difficile played. She said meetings with families have to be completed before the results of her review can be released publicly. She expects those meetings to be completed by the end of this week.
In St. Catharines, 20 patients remain in hospital isolation. Twelve of them acquired the infection in hospital and eight got it elsewhere.
During the news briefing, Matthews noted a handful of new infection control measures, including dedicating a staff member to monitoring the use of antibiotics in the hospital and having an infection control specialist from St. Joseph's in Hamilton hospital on call.
Matthews said NHS staff will not attend a planned protest led by Niagara Falls politicians outside the GNGH Wednesday because they will be otherwise occupied dealing with the outbreaks. She asked that those attending the protests respect the feelings of people coming and going from the hospital, as they may be visiting someone stricken with C. difficile"
*
Firstly, isn't it interesting that it only took what -16 confirmed deaths in about a two month period - for the NHS to get into the early phases of planning this clean up?????!
Only now is this happening?!
And secondly: the NHS was not aware of this rescue-gel before?!
Seriously?!?
Why isn't any Liberal responding to these revelations?
Where was the McGuinty-created LHIN in all this, for the last two months?!
Why wasn't the LHIN - which oversees the NHS - aware of this specialty gel at the very beginning ?
Why is no one asking the Liberal-created LHIN for explanations as to why their oversight failed??
Isn't the St.Catharines Standard right now calling Jim Bradley's office, or sending one of their crack reporters (...like Fraser or Lafleche... hahaha...) to track Ole Jimmy down and ask the Savant of Secord Dr. to explain why the health-monopoly in Bradley's own city is seemingly unprepared for a C. diff outbreak?
Will the St. Catharines Standard ask Jim Bradley to explain:
- why McGuinty's secretive Liberals hid from scrutiny and refused to call a public inquiry after hundreds of Ontarians were killed in the last Ontario C. diff outbreak, in 2008?
 and
- whether the calling of such an investigation back in 2008 could have resulted in proactive measures which would have ensured that Ontario's hospitals were properly prepared to quickly detect and contain future C. diff outbreaks; and which would have ensured that all hospitals would have been informed and aware of the availability of specialty cleaners, preventing some of the deaths we've seen in Niagara?
Sure: someone from the St. Catharines Standard's JimmyBoyFanClub could be asking Jimmy about the culpability of Bradley's lying monopolist Liberals in this C. difficile outbreak. (fat chance, though...)
Or maybe a criminal court judge should be the one asking Jim Bradley, George Smitherman and the rest of Dalton McGuinty's Liberal single-payer health-care cutting monopolists about all that.

The Niagara HIP: 100% Liberal made

On July 6, 2011, there was an hour-long rally held across the street from the Niagara Falls Greater Niagara General Hospital, (GNGH) in Niagara Falls Ontario. The rally was about the C. difficile outbreak in Niagara, and was supposedly non-partisan, but, the smell of socialism was definitely in the air. This seemed like an NDP rally, with a couple of lefty Liberals thrown in for good measure.
Never once was the failing concept of Ontario's monopolist single-payer health-care questioned by anyone.
The speakers were Wayne Gates, a former CAW boss and NDP federal candidate; an SEIU rep; Sue Salzer, a yellow-shirt brigader; Niagara Falls Liberal MPP Kim Craitor; NDP leader Andrea Horwath, and Niagara Falls mayor, global-warming fear-mongerer, and McGuinty Liberal wannabe candidate, Jim Diodati.
Craitor, predictably, blamed Harris for creating the NHS - seriously: this is what doofus (thanks, Doug Herod) Craitor is paid to do - create strawmen, and spin the scrutiny AWAY from the disaster his own Liberal party created in Niagara.
Craitor DID NOT mention anything about his own Liberal government-created LHIN's role in forcing cuts at the NHS and forcing the NHS to create the hated HIP.
Craitor, beyond belief, as if he was truly out of touch with reality, even went on to say he wants all the hospitals back as they were before, 'a hospital in every community'. Craitor didn't tell the cheering crowd (numbering perhaps a hundred) how much that retro fantasy will cost them. Craitor did warn the crowd that health care might soon take up to 70% of the government's budget, but didn't say whether that included having a fully-staffed hospital in every village! Craitor also babbled something about Canada having twelve provinces (yep: Craitor thinks Canada has "12 provinces"!) and twelve health-care jurisdictions,  trying to spin his Liberal government's massive failures onto the federal gov't., a typically disingenuous move. Health-care is a provincial obligation, Mr.Craitor - it's YOUR government's obligation, not someone else's.
Craitor remains a Liberal monopolist, defending an indefensible, despotic, anti-patient-choice, secretive, unaccountable health-care monopolism, dreaming of some bucolic single-payer health-care utopia... while the reality stood right behind him across the street: a Liberal-run disastrous health monopoly, fuelled by Liberal socialist ideology. Craitor also tried to tell the crowd that all this is somehow above politics - but many in the crowd did not buy that. Horwath later made this point clear to Craitor and to Diodati: this is all about politics.
This is exactly what I've said before, as well: this is all about politics, about failed socialism and perverted, desperate, monopolist Liberal ideology. We should not let Liberals such as Craitor or Diodati kid anyone:
it is ALL ABOUT  POLITICS;
IT IS ABOUT THEIR POLITICS;
IT IS ABOUT THEIR FAILED HEALTH-CARE MONOPOLISM;
IT IS ABOUT THEIR DUPLICITOUS LIBERAL IDEOLOGY.
This is all about the secrecy of Kim Craitor's Liberal government. This is all about Kim Craitor's deceptive, negligent Liberalism.
Diodati, the climate change fear-spreader, tried to defend Craitor, telling the crowd that Craitor is "in a jam" and that "there is a lot of pressure for him to fall in".  Diodati, full of Liberal rhetoric, pointed out to the crowd the NHS security guards across the street, and sneered "Give 'em all a cloth and some bleach and go clean a room". What a turd.
Diodati and Craitor are the ones desperately sanitizing McGuinty's disastrous Liberal health-care record. Diodati told the crowd that "C. diff is a symptom of a bigger problem, including a faulty Hospital Improvement Plan... the HIP, that's where the problem is."
The real problem, of course, is that Diodati and Craitor studiously avoid focusing on who created this problematic HIP!!!
Craitor and Diodati prefer to blame the NHS for the HIP.
But we all know that it was the Liberal government under George Smitherman which forced the Smitherman-created Niagara LHIN to force the NHS to begin cutting costs.
We've been through this 'Who caused the HIP' explanation a thousand times before, but slimy politicians continue to pretend that their politics are not to blame, and spin the truth away from their own Liberal culpability.
Yes: the HIP is a problem, as Diodati says; but Diodati conveniently JUST FORGETS to mention the rest of the story!!
You know:
- about how McGuinty's hand-picked health-care minister Smitherman forced the cuts onto the NHS,
- about how the whole Jack Kitts report was approved,
- about how the Liberal's own LHIN then approved the HIP plan, and then told the NHS implement it,
- about how it was McGuinty's Liberal government [not Harris' - get it, Kimmy..?] which closed two emergency rooms in Niagara,
- about how three Liberal health ministers - Smitherman, Caplan, and Matthews - refused to reconsider their LHIN's actions,
... amazingly, all that kinda stuff falls by Diodati's and Craitor's rhetorical wayside!!
The HIP is a problem Jimbo, because Craitor's Liberals - the same Liberals you once proudly wanted to hitch your wagon to - created it.
Do ya get it?
The HIP is 100% Liberal-created.
It is a Liberal-created  problem.
The HIP is the spawn of Liberal bastards.
Do ya get it??
It was McGuinty's secretive Liberal government - and Craitor is a proud McGuinty Liberal - which callously REFUSED to allow a public inquiry into the last C. diff outbreak, which killed hundreds in Ontario!!
Do ya get that?
Craitor's Liberals lied and ran away from scrutiny - and now it's happening again.
Do ya get it?
Stop blaming the security guards, Jimbo: the problem is your and Craitor's Liberalism. The HIP was the ultimate expression of an unchecked Liberal majority government's single-payer ideological despotism.
The Niagara HIP has Smitherman's Liberal-approved stink ALL OVER IT ...and Jim Bradley's... and Kim Craitor's.
Do ya get it YET, ya  FLICKIN' clowns???
The HIP was proud, despotic, single-payer Liberal healthcare duplicity  in its FULL GLORY - do ya GET IT now????
Don't give us your slimy horseshit rhetoric that "today is not about politics", Mr Diodati - it  most certainly is about politics; it's about Liberal negligence of heinous proportions.

Here's why McGuinty's lying Liberals are guilty of C. difficile negligence

Take a look at how Dalton McGuinty, Kim Craitor, Jim Bradley, and their Ontario Liberal government stonewalled and hid from scrutiny during the last C. difficile outbreak in Ontario in 2008, which killed HUNDREDS of Ontario patients.
Just look back at this report by Keith Leslie in the May 27, 2009 Welland Tribune, and remember the secretive, smug, 'oh-don't-worry-just-trust-us' attitude displayed at the time by McGuinty's hand-picked health minister, the disgusting George Smitherman:

"There is no need for an independent investigation into the deaths of hundreds of patients in Ontario hospitals from C. difficile bacteria, Health Minister George Smitherman said Monday as the opposition parties claimed lives could have been saved if the government had acted faster.
The Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats insist a provincewide inquiry is needed into the deaths of 260 patients from C. difficile at seven Ontario hospitals, noting the Liberal government had plenty of warning after an outbreak in Quebec in 2003 claimed 2,000 lives.
"When hundreds of people have died in hospitals and we know it's connected to C. difficile, we need to have an inquiry," said NDP Leader Howard Hampton.
"The government was warned several times about this - we saw what happened in Quebec - but the McGuinty government failed to act, and now we see the deaths of more than 100 people."
Conservative health critic Elizabeth Witmer agreed with Hampton that some deaths probably could have been prevented if the Liberal government had moved earlier to make it mandatory for hospitals to report outbreaks of C. difficile, a potentially deadly hospital-acquired infection.
"Certainly. They took steps in other provinces to make sure that mandatory reporting did take place, that there was a plan for outbreaks," Witmer said. "The question remains: How many people have needlessly died because this government refused to take action?"
But Smitherman and Premier Dalton McGuinty both said Monday that a coroner's inquest into a C. difficile outbreak in Sault Ste. Marie and other reports gave the government and health officials enough data on which to act, and that an inquiry is not needed.
Smitherman said everyone knows the problem is related to the spread of feces, and can best be combated by regular and thorough handwashing by hospital staff and visitors alike.
"We feel that we have a good body of evidence which directs everybody in health care on the methods forward to enhance the patient safety circumstances," he said. "I think that an inquest or inquiry of some kind would be a delay in the kind of progress that's possible to protect patients, so it's not something that I'm intending to move forward on."
Smitherman promised the government would make an announcement next month about making it mandatory for hospitals to report outbreaks of C. difficile, which will be later expanded to a host of other infectious diseases, but he didn't say if the plan would be implemented before the end of the year."

There's NO NEED for independent scrutiny, said Smitherman!!
Do we all remember how Smitherman and McGuinty's Liberals salivated over their political good fortune regarding Walkerton's tainted-water deaths? Yet - HUNDREDS of Ontarians died of C.diff infection in Ontario's Liberal-controlled health monopoly, and the health minister merely circled the wagons around his culpability and HID FROM AN INQUIRY.
Look at Smitherman's smug and bizarre rationalization that the calling of an inquiry would somehow 'delay the progress to protect patients' ...whaaaaat?!
And this Liberal ass GOT AWAY WITH THIS  bullshit!
Yep: as far as Dalton McGuinty's secretive  Liberal scumbags were concerned in 2008, NO INVESTIGATION, NO INQUIRY was needed into the hundreds of Ontario C. diff deaths: so, move along sheeple, there's nothing to see here!!
Ontarians were just supposed to naively trust McGuinty with their health-care; we were supposed to simply believe McGuinty's promises and claims  - AS IF McGUINTY'S LIBERALS HAD NEVER LIED BEFORE!
Now, fast forward to 2011, where at least 16 patients have been killed (so far) by C. diff infection in Niagara, and we're getting the SAME damn song-and-dance from McGuinty's Liberals - AGAIN!!  ...the washing of the hands...reporting guidelines...announcing announcements...bla, bla, bla...as if they'd learnt nothing the first time around. {...which, when you look back at it, was EXACTLY the case: the Liberals learned nothing in 2008, they refused to call an inquiry to learn what happened and how to prevent it, and they just essentially lied that 'everything was fine'}.
McGuinty's Liberal single-payer health-care monopolists conned Ontarians  last time around; they let things slide, cut health-care in Niagara, and then pretended that somehow Harris was to blame. [...right, Kim Craitor? Hey, at that rally later today, are you going to finally announce you're running for Horwath's NDP this fall?!]
In 2008, the question of whether 'lives would have been saved' if McGuinty's health monopoly had acted faster was never answered: all we got from McGuinty's smug Liberal majority was a run-around; now IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN, right in Niagara.
The same question needs to be asked again: Would lives have been saved in Niagara had McGuinty's health monopoly acted faster?  Funny, how no-one's really asking the local McGuinty Liberals - Kim Craitor or Jim Bradley - that question. (...eh, St.Catharines Standard??)
The Liberals are completely to blame this time around; there can be no more disingenuous excuses; McGuinty's statist-obsessed Liberals are responsible for enforcing a despotic, no-patient-choice, ideological single-payer health monopoly, where there is no incentive for initiative, and no penalty for failure.
Patients in Ontario have no other place to go, but to McGuinty's hospital monopoly, and take their chances of getting out alive.
McGuinty's Liberal scumbags are plainly and simply negligent. They should be held liable for forcing patients into uncertain conditions in their health-monopoly's hospitals, while concurrently outlawing patients the choice of obtaining non-McGuinty-infected health-care privately in Ontario.
McGuinty's bait-and-switch monopolist policy-kiting is coming to a deadly and tragic end: these Liberals have been so blinded by socialist single-payer ideology, that they have negligently lost track of the interests of the patient.

The St.Catharines Standard protects Jim Bradley from health-care criticism: month-long C. diff outbreak in Niagara, yet no word from Bradley

It's amazing how the St.Catharines Standard deftly manages to write about the C. difficile outbreak in Niagara, without once mentioning or providing any comments from local Liberal health-care monopoly-pushing-despot Jim Bradley.
...hmm... it's as if Ole Jimmy thar's gots nuttin' ta do wid any'o' dis, ya see...!
Nothing about Jim Bradley and the C. diff outbreak from the usual old hacks Lafleche, Downs, Fraser or the newbie Bolichowsky - yet the outbreak has been going on for over a month! (Love that Lafleche story where doctors are now being blamed for the outbreak!!!)  hahahaha - no mention, though, of  Kim Craitor's and  Bradley's Liberal LHIN's role in all this... hahahahah. PATHETIC...
Yet, amazingly, Bradley keeps popping up in staged photo-ops all over the place, giving money away here, there and everywhere (it's election time, y'see), yet, no St. Catharines Standard reporter or commentator has bothered to interview Good Ole Jimmy about the c. diff outbreak in Jimmy's health-monopoly, in Jimmy's own Niagara backyard!!
Bravo, St. Catharines Lower Standard - BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep on fondling Jim Bradley's delicate politicals.
*
It's incredible, too, how Anne Kranics (in her Jun.29, 2011 Niagara This Week letter) swoons over Liberal MPP Kim Craitor... apparently Bradley Syndrome isn't an isolated case; the disease is spreading... why, Craitor isn't the problem... he can't be... he's not even a Liberal (!!!?) WTF??
(see also here)
*
The Liberals - Craitor's Liberals! - refused to place the NHS under Supervisory control years ago: it was Kim Craitor's Liberals who decided to continue their secretive, monopolist ways and hide from allowing the Ombudsman (by way of a Supervisor's appointment) to thereby gain access to investigate the NHS.
The Liberals DID NOT WANT the Ombudsman to stick his flashlight into what McGuinty's monopolists were doing at and to the NHS. Where was Jim Diodati then?
Jim Diodati's Liberal friends have been hiding their monopolist health-care incompetency for years - since that disgusting minister Smitherman's tenure.
Smitherman demanded cuts, and forced the LHIN to force the NHS to start cutting.
I don't ever recall Liberal Diodati questioning Liberal Smitherman's motives or methods!
Yeah - the Liberal-friendly media narrative now is that Diodati is some kind of  'long-time critic of the NHS' -  but has Diodati ever been a long time critic of monopolist Liberal health-care ideology;
or of the Liberal-created LHIN's;
or of the Liberal's eight-year's-worth of health-care-secrecy, duplicity and cuts ?!?!
How convenient now to have sanctimonious  Liberals pretending they're suddenly going to solve 'the problem' - when the problem is THEIR OWN idiotic, secretive, despotic Liberalism!!
Diodati - when not spreading climate-change fear - was more than happy to become a McGuinty Liberal. Craitor is a proud Liberal - still !!!
You can't trust any Liberal to solve the MESS in the NHS, because the Liberals CREATED the mess in the NHS.
The secrecy at the NHS is all orchestrated from the LHIN, from the Ministry of Health, and from the Liberal-majority government of Ontario.
McGuinty's Liberal cabinet should be held liable in the deaths of these Niagara C. diff patients, people who had no other choice but to go to the Liberal-monopoly-run health-care outlet, and take their chances of getting out alive.
Any "investigation" of the NHS which doesn't subpoena the LHIN's and Dalton McGuinty's cabinet and examine the Liberal's ideological health-care monopolism, is bound to be a phony sham. [...Go ahead: please put former NHS chief Sevenpifer on the stand to testify and publicly reveal  exactly who ordered  and  approved the HIP plan which the NHS was forced to implement... as if the Liberals want to hear the answer to that ..!]
So, before an election, isn't this 'sham investigation' exactly what Diodati wants - a disingenuous one-sided attack on the NHS, but with NO CORRESPONDING SCRUTINY whatsoever of McGuinty's brutally ideological Liberal single-payer health-care despotism? An "investigation" that's meant to show how-oh-concerned the Liberals are - without actually examining the Liberal's OWN culpability in the Mess in the NHS!!?
What could that have anything to do with it?!!
You will NOT see any Niagara reporter questioning the role which McGuinty's Liberal monopolist ideology played in this C. diff outbreak. Gulldarnit, dat's politics, not health..!
The Liberal's concept of the single-payer health-care monopoly will not be scrutinized nor linked in any way to these patient deaths; the narrative will follow the Craitor/Diodati-sanctimony of blame the NHS, followed by let's have more of the same failed old Liberalism - a deluded catch-22 of negligent ignorance.
Why, our sainted hero Jim Bradley is personally building us a new hospital, bless him, the angel... as if the same monopolist problems won't appear there, as well..!
...so, vote again for Jimmy'n'Kimmy folks: you got what you asked for.
