I wrote earlier about Deb Matthews' selective outrage; now Antonella Artuso and Mike Zeisberger report in the Nov.6, 2009 St.Catharines Standard (photo above) that "Deb Matthews will investigate whether professional athletes elbowed their way to the front of the H1N1 line".

Deb's putting Ignatieff's Good Ole "Porn-Populism" to work! Let's git dem rich spoilt athletes!

Just where exactly was that "line" which the report suggested exists, but didn't/couldn't show?

Why isn't Deb Matthews investigating why 500 patients died of c. difficile in McGuinty's Ontario health-monopoly hospitals?

Why isn't Deb Matthews investigating why the St. Catharines General Hospital was found by CIHI in 2007 to have the third-highest patient death rate in Canada?

Niagara This Week (Oct.29, 2009) can print Joseph Somerlea's letter accusing Conservatives of negligence causing patient death in Ontario - but Niagara This Week can't provide any evidence to support it's printed letter's outrageous claim?! It's funny how even the multi-million dollar Romanow Report didn't mention Somerlea's claim.

So let's ask:

Why isn't Deb Matthews investigating her own Liberal government and its entire cabinet - from Dalton McGuinty on down - to determine their complicity and criminal negligence in contributing to patient deaths as her Liberals underfund health care in Ontario, while at the same time forcing an onerous, no-other-patient-choice, state-run health monopoly?

Where else could those patients who were infected and killed by c.difficile in the Dalton McGuinty/George Smitherman no-other-choice health-monopoly have gone?

There was no investigation!!

Why was the St.Catharines hospital found to have the third highest patient mortality rate in Canada?

There was NO investigation!!

The local Liberal health care monopolist, MPP Jim Bradley, has never bothered to publicly explain why this happened in his own riding's hospital!!

Health monopolist Deb Matthews is mostly chagrined that her rigid one-line-or-else charade of an ideology was found to be great in theory, but not in practice.

Unflicking-real: this incompetent health-minister-monopolist now wants to 'investigate the athletes' ...hey, while you're at it, Deb, maybe burn them at the stake after your witch-hunt finds them - but not your own Liberal ideology - guilty.

Oh, look: McGuinty's health minister has finally popped up, blabbing her monopolist nonsense - or as Michael Ignatieff would describe it - Good Ole Grit Porno-Populism.

In Lee Greenberg's Ottawa Citizen (Nov.5, 2009) story, "Health minister angry as pro athletes jump H1N1 queue" (see here), Matthews is all indignant about Leaf and Raptor players getting the H1N1 shots:

"Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews is unsure whether professional hockey and basketball players who jumped the queue to receive their H1N1 flu vaccine broke any rules.

Matthews says physicians and public-health officials have been asked to “respect the science” behind a decision to immunize certain groups before others.

She was unclear, however, whether doctors who allowed professional athletes vaccination ahead of priority patients could face sanctions.

“When it comes to the queue-jumpers, that’s one of the questions that I’m exploring right now,” she told reporters. “I need to better understand that. And when I better understand that, I’ll share it with you.” "

Yep - Deb's unsure of what the flick her McGuintyite-run Incompetent Government-run health monopoly is doing - but when she does... (here comes that learning curve thing I wrote about! see here; here) she'll get back to us!!

Oh, she'll find someone to sanction, all right!!

Deb's Liberal-monopolist ways are failing before her very eyes (as they did for Caplan and Smitherman) yet this ideological porno-populist hack is already scouring to blame the rich and doctors for her monopoly's incompetence. Deb's already looking for ways to blame patients/health care users, rather than examine the role her failing McGuinty Incompetent Government played in scaring the shit out of people, then being unprepared when the people showed up.

Is Deb Matthews still on her 'learning curve' about the flyer David Caplan sent out, back in September, promising the vaccination for "all Ontarians" in November?! (see: here)

Or is Deb still learning how to spin her Liberal promises (in the fine way explained to us by Professor Moon here) into blaming someone - oh... lessee... um... Harris, Diefenbaker, Bush -anyone else - but herself - the minister running the only game in the province, the Liberal-run state health monopoly?!

Deb Matthews should be tendering her resignation with her incompetent handling of the H1N1 rollout. And fed Grit Carolyn Body-Bag-Buffoon Bennett (see here) should be gone as health critic.

[Deb Matthews should consult with that "great Canadian" (hahaha, as per Coyle here) colleague of hers, MPP Jim Bradley, on how to go about blaming doctors and rilin' up the proletariat agin' da rich; see here. Bradley spent his day (Nov.5) in Niagara On The Lake hobnobbing not with the plebes, but shuffling along like a lost puppy behind Prince Charles at the Niagara College Wine Centre opening. Niagara's own Royal Highness, Jim Bradley, would certainly sniff with scornful disdain at this following editorial, which was written prior to the Leaf/Raptor revelation in Ontario, (National Post, Nov.5, 2009, see here):

"Not acceptable." "Deplorable." "A very serious error in judgment." These are the reactions from government politicians and spokesmen to the revelation that Calgary Flames' players and their families were provided H1N1 vaccinations last Friday, while thousands of less privileged Albertans toughed it out on line. "This is a travesty of leadership and it's a violation of the basic principles of public health care," provincial Liberal leader David Swann thundered. Premier Ed Stelmach has promised an investigation. Yesterday, a senior Alberta Health Services staffer was fired over the issue.

If their outrage is sincere, it's bafflingly selective. Have they never noticed that when hockey players need, say, an MRI scan, they just sort of magically get them? According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, in 2008, the median MRI wait time for outpatients in Alberta was 41 days. In February, according to a Calgary Herald report, two dinged-up Flames flew home from Minneapolis after a Thursday night game and got MRIs, and diagnoses, on the Friday. Nobody so much as batted an eyelash.

It's not just Calgary's millionaires on ice refusing to adhere to Canada's one-queue-for-all ideal. It's customers of Canada's private clinics, where people pay $2,000 and up for a head-to-toe medical workup. (The taxpayers don't pay for that, but of course they do pay to treat any ailments the workup reveals.) It's people who'd rather pay out of pocket for a next-day diagnostic imaging appointment in Buffalo, N.Y., or Bellingham, Wash., than stay home and accept a much longer timeline. It's people like Brian Day -- founder of Vancouver's private, for-profit Cambie Surgery Centre and past president of the Canadian Medical Association -- who admitted in 2007 he'd used his connections to catapult him and his family up the queue. And it's every other person who, worried for his or his family's health, understandably pulls whatever strings he can to secure speedier service, necessarily pushing the unconnected - immigrants, seniors, the poor - down the queue.

However many tiers of health care you think there ought to be in Canada, it helps no one to pretend that there has ever been, or that there will ever be, just one. Clearly we are a nation encumbered by fantasies about the current state of our universal health-care system. This doesn't augur well for the deadly serious conversation we need to have about its future and sustainability."

Now, the same applies in Ontario: if Deb Matthews' outrage is sincere, it's also bafflingly selective - as it is for all of McGuinty's Liberal monopolist health care ideologues.

Deb Matthews has no answers as to why people are looking after themselves, and for why she can't immediately conjure up a specific law blaming them, because Deb Matthews cannot see that her monopolist, single-payer health care fantasy has failed.

St.Catharines hospital 'basically sent patient away to die'; will Liberal MPP Jim Bradley comment?

Niagara This Week (Nov.6, 2009) had this letter, "Stop interfering with our hospital":

"Open Letter to the Directors of the Hamilton-Niagara Local Health Integration Network (LHIN)

Please refrain from further interference with the building plans for our new hospital. The plans for the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) have been in the works for many years. The community has raised many millions of dollars to support the project. A recent consultant’s report shows our hospital is in the top 3 per cent in efficiency in Ontario. This means the ratio of services provided by our hospital for dollars spent is exceptional. That is a result of good planning and good management.

Why mess with something that works well and is at the top of the class? Wouldn’t you be better off spending your time and efforts on hospitals which are failing the grade? We, the taxpayers, want good value for our tax dollar and in that regard our hospital has an exceptional and proven track record.

There is talk about diminishing the services of our hospital and perhaps even cancelling the new hospital in favour of a new Centre for Excellence in west St. Catharines. Please allow me to caution you about sacrificing the proven efficient services we have in Grimsby for “theoretical” services some distance away. I say theoretical because it is all on paper. We don’t know if the plans for St. Catharines will work and whether any centre there will be well managed.

Efficient health care depends on management quality. Some things may look great on paper but end up failing due to poor management. There are plenty of examples of huge wastes of taxpayer funds due to poor management. The gun registry and the latest eHealth fiasco are two of them. We have proven hospital management here in Grimsby with a stellar track record. That means a lot and shouldn’t be sacrificed at the altar of a plan in another city which may or may not deliver the same efficiency or medical service we presently enjoy.

This is not just a faceless bureaucratic decision to be taken lightly. Lives are at stake. Poor management almost killed my father at the St. Catharines General Hospital. A few years ago he kept passing out and was delivered by ambulance to the emergency department. They kept him overnight for observation and tests, which showed he had a serious heart problem combined with blocked carotid arteries.

In the morning we found him sitting in the waiting room. He told us he’d been discharged and was advised not to drive or live alone. The bathroom he had to use was filthy with puddles of urine and God knows what on the floor. There was no toilet paper, nor were there any paper towels. The excuse for his discharge was their vascular surgeon had recently moved away and no other hospitals were accepting patient transfers. They had basically sent him away to die. By anyone’s standards, the disgusting bathroom and unbelievable discharge procedure was bad management. No one even bothered to call his family! He was confused, periodically passing out, and incredibly left to fend for himself in the waiting room.

On the way home, my dad passed out again so I drove him right to the Hamilton General Hospital. There he received much needed carotid artery surgery and a heart bypass surgery. He is alive today because of my decision to take him to a hospital with competent management and competent services. Had we depended on management at the St. Catharines General Hospital, I am convinced he would not be alive today. We are fortunate his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can continue to enjoy his presence and love.

Lives hang in the balance of your decisions. Please do not sacrifice proven efficient and much needed medical services in Grimsby for some plans on paper elsewhere which may or may not come to fruition, may or may not be an efficient use of our tax dollars and may or may not be well managed.

Prince Charles Visits Niagara

Prince Charles arrived in a fleet of limousines to the Niagara College campus in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ont., Nov.5, 2009 at 1:45 pm.

Ironically for this royal preacher of global warming, the weather was windy and dour (just like home!) with sleet, which during his brief stay turned to small hail! Welcome.

The Chuckman, sans Camilla, did a walkabout, shaking hands and chatting for several minutes to the crowd lined up in front of the new Wine Centre. He then toured the Centre, and later walked over to meet invited guests in a large tent set up nearby.

The Prince did not re-emerge to the crowd waiting in front of the Centre, but left from the tent area to a waiting helicopter (one of five copters - four military craft, one RCMP - which had landed on the field east of the Wine Centre earlier, just before 1 pm).

Just after 3 pm, the Prince was airborne, heading back to Toronto.

Strange... isn't the haughty Count Ignatieff a Russian blueblood himself? Oh, well... if there's anything Iggy knows, it must be about pornographic populism.

Adam Radwanski (Globe and Mail, Nov.2, 2009; see here) writes about a vain Iggy taking over McGuinty's Liberal Ontario convention and blabbing about Harper for some fifteen minutes, when Iggy was just supposed to be making a quick introduction to another speaker:

Prince Charles upchucks his enviro greenshevism in Canada

The St.Catharines Standard (Nov.3, 2009) published a cute partisan Canadian Press feed titled "Charles calls for climate change leadership", where Prince Charles spouts the usual about protecting the children and the planet; the CP report eagerly (blatantly!) then ties this to Harper, yet ignores mentioning the Chretien-Martin Liberals' thirteen-year failure to do anything on their own Kyoto promises!

Heehee - CP - they're the best, eh?!

Meanwhile, Chuckie and the Bride of Chuckie didn't row or take an eco-friendly sail boat to the colony, did they? No, the Chuckster flew and polluted his way across the Atlantic in order to lecture us plebes on his soft enviro-socialism. Did the CP story question the carbon footprint of the CamillaChuck 09 Canada Tour?! (umm... no they didn't....!)

Stuff it, Chuck. Why don't you practice what you preach: stay home and save the planet.

McGuinty promised that "all Ontarians" would get the H1N1 vaccine during November

Jim Richards interviewed Liberal MP Kirsty Duncan (CFRB, Nov.3, 2009) regarding H1N1; when Duncan began spouting the old Liberal partisan lines, Richards had had enough, and bid her adieu. Richards had earlier asked where the responsibility was regarding the provinces, and the municipalities roles in rolling out the H1N1 response: Liberal MP Duncan evaded the question.

It wouldn't be proper cricket, y'see, to respond on Dalton McGuinty's handling of the 'swine flu': he's a Liberal, after all, and therefore, cannot be questioned!!

Liberals can always find time to blame Harper - yet neither Iggy, nor Kirsty, nor Carolyn Body-Bag-Buffoon Bennett, nor Dalton's brother David McGuinty, can find anything wrong with Ontario's Matthews-McGuinty H1N1 response!!!!

Below is the McGuinty Liberal government's promised plan, mailed to what -millions - of Ontario households back in late September:

McGuinty (whose Liberal health monopoly is solely responsible for health care in Ontario; Ontarians, remember, have NO OTHER CHOICE except to wait in line for whatever health care McGuinty deems to throw them) promised that the H1N1 vaccine would be available to "All Ontarians" during "November 2009".

Yet - when you hear opportunist Iggy blathering about H1N1 (for example: see John Ivison's Nov.4, 2009 National Post column here) Iggy says nothing at all about Dalton McGuinty's broken promises, lies, and incompetence!!

A disingenuous Iggy still believes (or pretends to believe) that health care is NOT primarily a provincial responsibility!! (see Nov.3, 2009 CTV report here)

Only in Iggy's World does Harper's alleged 'failure' become McGuinty's success!!
